Licensing information
An enforcement action was reported by Consumer Protection BC, the regulatory body for payday lenders, on September 15, 2017 against Venue Financial Ltd. dba Venue Financial Centres, with locations throughout BC, which stated in part the following:
In January and June 2017 compliance inspections of seven Venue Financial Centres locations were performed. At six of these locations inspections staff identified issues with the business practices of Venue Financial in arranging and selling credit protection insurance to borrowers during payday loan transactions. The information in the report demonstrated the issues were systemic to all Venue Financial locations. As a result a Director’s order was issued stating the continued sale of credit protection insurance posed a serious financial risk to borrowers.The conditions imposed on each of the fourteen (14) payday lender licenses issued to Venue Financial were in part:
a) Venue Financial must immediately cease the arrangement and sale of credit protection insurance offered by Western Line Assurance Company and;
b) Venue Financial must obtain the prior approval of the Director of Consumer Protection BC before arranging or selling any credit protection insurance product associated with payday loans advanced to borrowers/consumers. For more details on the action please

On November 9th, 2018 Consumer Protection BC website reports an undertaking against Venue Financial Ltd. dba Venue Financial Centres regarding the enforcement action taken on September 15, 2017.
