I am filing this review because my vehicle was deemed a total loss in October 2024 due to a not-at-fault accident. Over the past five months, I have been seeking reimbursement for the vehicles value, but my initial adjuster was entirely unresponsive. Despite multiple follow-ups with ICBC, the assigned adjuster was eventually changed, but the situation did not improve significantly. My vehicle was undervalued by approximately $3,500, I have not been reimbursed for rental car expenses incurred during this period, and $500 was wrongly deducted from my claim despite the accident not being my fault. Additionally, my insurance premium has not been properly refunded for a vehicle that was totalled and no longer in my possession.

I would give ICBC zero stars for that business as a whole. The customer service they provide, that we pay them to provide when in need of claiming any accident/injury, is the absolute worst. They don't care about the customer, they don't care about the policy, they don't care. Getting any information from them regarding their new rules and regulations is a joke. Half the time the claims people are "out of office". they just don't care and you can't rely on them to assist you when you need the help that our insurance company is supposed to provide. The new rules that they changed during covid to the "no fault rule" is so unfair and makes no sense. Someone has to be liable. If no one is at fault then why do we pay for millions of dollars of liability coverage on our insurance? The person who is not at fault regarding the accident gets treated unfairly and their life gets ruined, have no way of gaining any compensation for the hardships and struggles that come along with having someone ruin your life. Icbc does nothing to help. Their representatives are rude and uncaring, unsympathetic and unhelpful. ICBC is a government cash cow conglomerate company that we have to pay for insurance and there's nothing we can do about it. yet when you need their help, they don't pull through. You can't sue the driver, or their insurance company, and no lawyers will give you the time of day when dealing with this garbage company.

As an ICBC customer I feel extremely let down. I have had the adjuster ******** **** assigned to the claim. Her unprofessional manor and lack of communication has left us in the dark regarding our claim and when our vehicle will be fixed. I have been without the car now for 1 month after the claim being accepted. She continues to not answer the phone at any time of the day and has decided to not respond to emails for 2 weeks +. I wish I could take my business elsewhere but unfortunately due to ICBC having a monopoly over the province for car insurance this is not an option. The fact that customers have no choice means ******** **** can continue to conduct herself in this way without any issues. ICBC must be laughing at all BC residents. Well done to you on your monopoly, you have won the game.

Yesterday, the ICBC lady called at 3 p.m. on Oct 24, 2024, regarding a vehicle claim. The staff required further training; she was extremely rude and impatient to my 81-year-old father and a young interpreter. In the middle of her call, she started to shout at my father and the ********* interpreter. By the end of the call, she also cut off the call from my father and the interpreter. How absurd is that? If you want to purchase vehicle insurance, stay away from ICBC. Their staff are very unprofessional and rude. They act highly impatient when you make a claim. They treated customers without respect at all. I suspected that she acted like this because she was ****** ******* ******* ****** ** ******* ICBC needs to investigate this. Luckily, I recorded the whole conversation, and I am looking forward to sharing with their fairness officer.

The absolute worst customer service. Unbelievable that they have a monopoly within ** and are allowed to continue to operate. 14 months for some minor repairs to my vehicle, caused by a drunk driver. No real timelines given, and continually told someone will be in touch . Awful.

A deer hit my car on August 6th and it was deemed repairable at almost the cost of my car so I asked for a write off due to having replacement insurance. It is now September 26th and they are continuing to tell me I'm in the que. I have had no car for almost 2 months.

My wife travelled to **. Left her vehicle in a BC auto shop for a quick routine maintenance. The car was damaged when it was driven out of the shop for a test, by the shop technician (Shop is insured by ICBC): It was hit by another ICBC insured vehicle. Police came to the scene and gave the accident reports to both BC drivers. These happened when she was sitting in the shop, waiting for the shop to finish her car maintenance). Thought her liability be straight and simple, till we tried to work with ICBC for a settlement. Got one chance to talk to ICBC at very beginning. ICBC asked us to work with our insurance company, Aviva. Next 5 weeks and after many email and phone call discussions, we were told that ***** could never able to reach ICBC over the phone, to setup a 3-party discussion. ***** was also unable to get a proposal from ICBC, even on the simplest items such as cost of car rental. My wife will have to leave ** soon. We were told that we are responsible for our travels including next travel to bring the vehicle back whenever the repair will be completed. All will be by our own efforts! We could not choose where to be born. Grew up in a communist country where government controls everything including everyone's acting and thought. Thought Canada is a good template of modern civilization, till we met ICBC.

Cannot provide the most basic information on how they calculate premiums, how interest is calculated, how additional drivers affect the cost of the premium. Kept referring me to the Autobroker. When they did answer, it was conflicting. Finally I was told by two of the agents to find another Autobroker. Reported this to my broker. If you're going to raise ones insurance premium 33% in one year, you should be able to answer some simple questions.
