  I met Brenda at ******* Burnaby in November 2023, where she was offering free public speaking coaching for presenters. Although I’m fairly experienced and confident in presenting, I’ve found it’s always helpful to get an outside perspective. Brenda’s feedback was specific, actionable, and insightful—she even suggested a great way to restructure the story in my presentation to capture the audience’s attention right away. Impressed by her guidance, I later hired Brenda to help me prepare for another ******* presentation. Her coaching not only improved the quality of my presentation but also boosted my confidence. With her support, I delivered a talk that engaged the audience, sparked meaningful interactions, and prompted plenty of questions.   Although I was pretty comfortable speaking to groups of people before, I feel even more confident after working with Brenda. She delivered her constructive feedback as well as positive comments in a way that made me feel comfortable. I really liked Brenda’s suggestion of embodying the speech, rather than reading or memorizing it, and reminded myself of that throughout my presentation process. Brenda’s suggestions took my speech from a good speech to a very powerful and memorable speech. In addition to embodying the words, I loved her tip of painting a picture for the audience and to reference that theme throughout to tie the various components together. This was perfect in keeping the audience engaged and captivated, making my speech more impactful. I would recommend Brenda for many different types of public speakers.   I first met Brenda several years ago when we both worked at the ** ********** **********. Since that time, I have done a lot of presenting, training and educating to groups of many different sizes, across several professions. I hired Brenda because I was looking for a strong sounding board who would provide practical and thoughtful feedback, and also because we both have experience in regulation. Brenda immediately put me at ease, and she was very comfortable to talk to. She listened well and provided meaningful and helpful feedback.   Brenda helped me to prepare and strategize for a Q&A session following a live, on-stage business pitch competition. Brenda approached me after my first of two semi-finals for the ***** ***** ***** ***** competition and offered to help me better prepare for the next iteration. I was unhappy with my initial performance on the question-and-answer part of the event, so I cued up a number of coaching sessions with different people, including Brenda, for improvement. While other coaching sessions focused on the content I needed to prepare for my responses and developing a good list of talking points to use, Brenda’s session took a more tactical approach, helping me conceptualize a how rather than a what: how should I frame and use the answers I gave in response to the questions asked, rather than what I should say. This boosted my confidence and provided a framework within which to populate the other content. Through working with Brenda, I received Brenda's strategic approach to thinking about the questions and a way to respond to them within that framework. That framework is something that I can use not just for this particular contest, but also at future pitch cometitions or indeed at any presentation that involves a Q&A. Following the session with Brenda, I was able to do a better job of responding strategically to the judges’ questions. The flexibility and broad application of her approach makes it one that others are also likely to find useful and one that does not depend on Brenda being a subject matter expert in the area of the speech. I would recommend Brenda’s public speaking coaching to others.
