My 13 years old son(Travis) had been in this Karate class for 7 years and 2 month (Since September of his Grade 1 ). He started to lose interest and decided to quit in middle of last Oct. just last month. I emailed and thanked for all these years and we thought everything was fine. However, Tiger's eye charged me for this month of November. And they emailed me saying that I will break an Annual contract. So 50% of monthly fee has to be paid for 9 more months. They required us to pay $718.20 (9month x $159.60/month)x 50%) in this coming 9 month. I was very surprised to hear that because I was never aware of such penalty for 9 years, may be because my son had never stop for 7 years? But it is not just that. The last good few years Tiger's eye used their tablet at their dojo, to make parents register annual renewal once a year. It is rather quickly done and I doubt if the financial policy was written in the tablet for us to see/check before we sign. At least I was never explained and other mothers agreed with me for that. I had no idea about Annual member's responsibility needs to bound us for 12 month. After I requested to show me Tiger's eye's policy because they ask me for $718.20 (9month x $159.60)x50%, they email me that their financial policy but it was just typed and no dated. It was not on their Website, they seems they just keep their policy with them. They had never explained what it will be if you signed up for an Annual. Our family income depends on social assistance as we have disability status in our family. Our income is below $3000 a month for 3 people( including a 13 years old). Tiger's eye is a well known Dojo and has 2 other dojo including a round house community centre in Downtown. Many students go as national team and even international competition. They might have been legit but it lacked a clear presentation in this occasion. I would like to hear what you think about this and would ask you for any assistance possible. ***** *********
