*** Marsh Building Inspectors were pushy about doing an inspection even though I didnt want one. Twice they dodged coming back to document damage and used an outdated camera with fuzzy photos. Because theyre paid by the blasting company, they seemed more focused on protecting that relationship than accurately assessing damage. Overall, it was a terrible experience with little professionalism or integrity.

Marsh Building Inspections *** completed a Pre Blast Survey for a Mr. ***** ********* in August 2023 at no cost to him. Mr. ********* initiated a damage claim on January 6, 2024 reporting one crack. We requested a photo of the deficiency on January 8 2024, in order to get approval from the blasting contractor to complete the onsite assessment. This is standard procedure. Any indication of new damage (i.e. that the damage is not pre-existing) is investigated.Unfortunately, Mr. ********* did not respond to our email or send a photo. As a result, no further investigation was undertaken. Then, on January 5, 2025, Mr. ********* sent 22 photos, reporting multiple cracks in 4 rooms and also a roof leak. The *** bylaw allows 60 days after the end of the blasting project for affected homeowners to report damage. The timeframe is important as there are forces acting on our homes 24/7 - ****************************************** construction activity. Residential blasting techniques ensure low blast vibrations. Every blast event is measured. The vibrations diminish roughly 30% every 10 meters and there is no residual effect. Mr. ********** home was 52 metres distant. The 2025 photos from Mr. ********* show pre-existing cracks, as recorded in August 2023 during the Pre Blast Survey, and water damage from a roof leak. One crack reported in January 2024 became multiple cracks plus a roof leak by January 2025. It is true that Mr. ********* has multiple deficiencies in his home. It is also true that there is no evidence that those deficiencies are related to blast vibration.
