We contacted Westcoast ** in May of 2024 to quote repairs to our fifth wheel from a break and enter. They quoted the repairs to replace with new doors etc and insurance approved repairs. Some of the repairs were completed like putting new batteries and propane tanks so we could use the ** while we waited for new doors at this time we were told by West Coast we needed to pay the deductible for the claim so we did not need to pay for the batteries or propane tanks and get reimbursed from insurance so we agreed and paid the deductible trusting ******. Little did we know when you pay your deductible you are agreeing to insurance that the work has been completed, ****** then closed our claim with insurance before any of the doors were replaced and was paid out by insurance and the insurance company then closed the claim. Well 6 months later the doors they ordered did not fit and we were told they needed to be custom made and would cost double the original price so they were now going to fix our doors even though the estimate states replace with brand new, at this point insurance is involved and agrees they created a fraudulent claim by closing it and being paid without the work being completed and agrees that they quoted for brand new not to repair. We agreed for them to repair the front baggage door being told everything would be straightend and be good as brand new, this door did not fit properly after repair, it is scratched and does not close properly, video and pictures to prove. The entry door is so bent and broken and beyond repair and insurance and their independent adjuster agrees. We have subsequently had to take the ** to a different shop to get the entry door made and insurance has agreed to pay more money for that door only, however West Coast will not fix the front baggage door they did not repair properly as well they did not check the electrical system when putting new batteries in and we have a draw that kills the batteries they refuse to fix.

      Business Response

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We'd like to provide some clarity on the situation from our side.

We initially provided a repair quote to ****** based on our inspection, which was subsequently approved by his insurance provider. As it was camping season, ****** expressed that he did not want to wait for the replacement doors to arrive. At his request, we proceeded with replacing only the batteries and propane tanks so he could continue using his RV in the interim.
During that visit, we thoroughly inspected the electrical system and found no parasitic draw on the batteries. Several months later, ****** reached out again stating that the batteries appeared to be discharging. We booked him in, inspected the unit again free of charge for over an hour, and were still unable to locate the issue. At that point, we asked for authorization to proceed with further diagnostic work, which he declined, stating that a friend would look into it.
Regarding the insurance claim, there was no intent of fraud. The invoice was submitted as part of our standard process, since the deductible had been paid and the customer had signed off on the work. It was an honest mistake, which we fully explained to the insurance company. We've maintained a strong relationship with this provider over the years, and this is the only instance where such an issue has occurred.
It's also important to note that claims can be reopened if a customer is dissatisfied. We encouraged ****** to pursue this route and even offered to reopen the claim on his behalf, but he declined.
In our ongoing effort to resolve this matter amicably, we have already refunded him for one of the doors and remain willing to reimburse him for the second as a gesture of goodwill. As a small business, we take pride in our work and are committed to doing what's right for our customers.
