I took my 1975 Chevrolet flat deck in for minor repairs
I was told the work would cost around $550. I told them to go ahead.
The total of the invoice was $5,971.48
Some of the work I was charged for had been completed as a condition of my purchasing the truck 2 years ago. It had only been driven for approximately 1 hour since.
Had I known what they were actually going to charge me I would not have agreed to it as it is a very old truck.

    Business Response

    Date: 16/08/2023

This vehicle was towed into my shop and scheduled for May 15 2023.  First glance of the truck is that it had been sitting for several years.  There was a mouse nest covering the carburetor.  We got the truck into the shop and did a complete check over of it for repairs required.  We found a large list of items, most safety related that needed to be addressed.  After phoning the clients house, talking to his wife about the extensive repairs needed, ****** came to the garage in person to talk.  I explained the extensive amount of repairs required in order to make the truck road worthy.  I asked ****** what the truck was desired to be used for, he explained he needed it to travel to from Salt Spring to Vancouver and back to haul items.  I explained once again that this was a large undertaking for an older vehicle, which has been sitting for some time.  I proceeded to ask if there was a budget for us to work within, which he replied he just wanted it fixed and he trusted me.  I told him it could be several thousand dollars, possibly more that five thousand.  He told me once again he just wanted it fixed.  We went on to repair the vehicle to a standard that would match vehicle inspection requirements.
