I recently received a ticket in a lot which I have parked in for the last 20 years. It has never been a pay lot and is not located in a busy downtown area. Its a large lot with a bank, grocery store, restaurants etc. It is a place you go to get errands done. I was very confused after eating lunch to find a ticket on my car. I thought perhaps I parked in a reserved space in the almost empty lot, however after reading the ticket I realized you must register for a free 90 minutes while shopping.I was parked in front of an empty business with for lease signs. I obviously would have registered had I seen the signs as I was only going to be parked in the lot for a quick lunch, then grab a couple groceries and some pet food. I was there for less than an hour and spent a lot of money only to be left with a $65 dollar ticket. I was with two other cars of adults both which did not see the signs. The signage is terrible and even after you see it is not something that would get your attention. I would have preferred to just pay to enter the lot. Needless to say its unfortunate as it doesnt effect Indigo parking but in turn the businesses located there as it makes me not want to return. I wrote a pleasant email and explained the situation only to be told that the signage is fine and that a $25 payment should still be made. I would have no issues with paying a ticket had I rightfully deserved it. I was on the lot for less than the 90 minutes offered at no cost but just didnt notice the signage. I would hope a company would understand the mistake and rectify a simple situation. Im feeling extremely frustrated at the whole scenario.

    Dear ********************,

Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention.

I want to emphasize that the operation of our parking facility is governed by clearly displayed signage throughout the property. These signs serve to inform our guests of the guidelines and their responsibility to adhere to them. It is essential for all visitors to familiarize themselves with these regulations, especially concerning the registration process for parking at the ***********************, which is managed by Indigo.

Upon careful review of your dispute, it appears that there was no registration made for your vehicle with the license plate *******************, your ********************** notice DD494318 remains valid as per our established procedures. However, as a gesture of goodwill, our team have offered reduction of the fine to $25.00 as a one-time courtesy, and our decision on this stands. This reduced amount is valid for payment through our online portal at *********************************************************** within the next 10 days from today. Failure to settle the payment within this timeframe will result in the notice reverting to its original fine amount.

We urge all patrons to comply with these regulations to avoid receiving further notices.

I regret that we cannot reach a mutual agreement regarding your parking notice. Our decision in this matter is final, and the notice will remain valid in our system.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

We were shocked at getting a parking ticket Notice #DD497331 - $65 amount after dining at the ***************** at *************** on Sunday, May 19, 2024. This is our first time going to this area and we didnt notice any signs. We parked in front of a vacant building which was for lease next to *****************. We were 3 people in the car and none of us noticed any signs when going into the lot. We entered from a side street I think its called ***************** - not entirely sure if thats what its called. We just wanted to go eat dinner. We were shocked by getting this ticket after dinner and so went to look for a parking meter or signage. Then we looked around and saw a sign by Save On Foods, but by then it was too late. Like I said, we only wanted to eat. Indigo parking signs had no meter to get a ticket but just a QR code to register for free parking. Needless to say the sign is not a visible one, not like ******* Parking or Impark. Theirs are yellow-coloured signs or have meters by the signs which are visible that you cant miss. We have never heard of Indigo in ********. You would think it is a book store. We have been to shop at the ************ long ago before all the construction was built up but now after getting a ticket, we will never set foot in this complex again. I will be emailing London Drugs and Save On Foods, the anchor tenants in this complex to let them know that none of our family will ever shop there.

I am rejecting this response because:

As explained in my original complaint, the signs were not bold enough. It was easy to miss. There needs to be stickers on all businesses glass doors so customers can see it. Also explained it was our first time going to this restaurant. Had we known or saw any signs that we had to register for free parking, we would have done so.

    Dear **********,

I hope this email finds you well.

I am writing to address your recent concern regarding the signage in our parking lot.

First and foremost, I want to assure you that the sign installed in our parking lot adheres to our established sign standards, ensuring clarity and consistency for all our patrons. Our goal is to provide clear guidelines to facilitate a smooth parking experience for everyone. The pictures of the signs were attached from my first reply to this complaint.

However, it's important to note that while we make every effort to provide clear signage, it remains the responsibility of each individual customer to pay attention to these signs and adhere to the guidelines they convey. We understand that parking can sometimes be a source of frustration, but by following the instructions on our signs, we aim to minimize any inconvenience and ensure the safety and efficiency of our parking facilities.Still, we value your feedback and are committed to continuously improving our services.

I regret that we cannot reach a mutual agreement regarding your parking notice. Our decision in this matter is final, and the notice will remain valid in our system.

I am rejecting this response because: Indigo parking signs are not in bold colours. Your signs are in small print. Seniors can't see them clearly. After getting the ticket, we had to find a sign and walk up to read it. I see you've attached your photos of the signs in duplicate. Not cool.

I parked in a Indigo managed parking lot at 9am for a few minutes to buy some groceries. I went home and did some work, then at around 4pm I picked up my son from school and returned to the shopping center to grab a couple things that I had forgotten. There was a ticket on my windshield, accusing me of parking in the lot longer than 3 hours. Apparently they had scanned my license plate in the morning and again in the afternoon and assumed I parked there all day. When I filed a dispute, they asked me to prove I had shopped at different times with receipts. Their parking system is fundamentally flawed, they have no idea that I left and returned hours later. Indigo's parking system is inferior and plagued with technological and human error. They responded weeks later saying they would cancel the ticket as a "one time courtesy", still reminding me to not park longer than 3 hours. They should have apologized for their error, and for wasting my time.

We apologize for the one-time courtesy Guest Services provided to you when cancelling your parking notice when you sent us the receipts. The location where you visited is restricted with a 3-hour customer ********************** area only. Thus, any vehicle that plans to visit the lot multiple times in a day may be subject to receiving a parking notice. In the meantime, we have updated the courtesy applied to your parking notice on our end.

Hi,I am writing about a parking ticket I received while shopping at the underground parking lot at **************. I am a resident of the lower mainland and rarely shop at **************, however the last time I parked here was probably 4-5 years ago and I didn't have to pay. This is also the first shopping mall that's not in the downtown Vancouver area where parking is paid. We've shopped at *********, *********, *********, and many others where parking has always been free, which is why my wife and I were shocked to see a ticket after shopping for just under an hour. We didn't notice any parking signs both as we drove into the lot and at the location where we parked (in front of ******** ****). If we had known it was paid, we would have most certainly not parked here. I believe it is unfair to charge us a ticket because this is a shopping mall in ******* and the signs were not obvious. This incident has really ruined our experience at this mall and if we need to pay for this ticket, it will surely be our last time shopping here. Please consider that customers come to a shopping mall for pleasure and to spend money in the mall. Having to pay for parking at a place which used to be free without adequate signage is extremely inconvenient and unfair to the customer experience. Please consider my thoughts as I hope there can be a way to resolve this situation where everyone wins.

    Business Response

    Dear ****,

    RE: Parking Notice ********

Please note that the operation of this parking facility features numerous signs throughout the property alerting parking guests of the guidelines and its guest's responsibility to check for signs should the vehicle be left parked on private property. ********************* is private property, while Indigo manages its parking, and the registration procedure for the said location has been in operation since the mall reopens for the public after the construction. The location is fully equipped with 8 machines, visible QR codes in each level underground and throughout the entrances and elevator of the mall with the rules and procedures for both surface and underground. As per the signage, the vehicle's licence plate must be registered at any meter or through a QR code within the lot to obtain parking.

As per carefully reviewing your dispute, we have now cancelled your parking notice ******** issued to the vehicle with plate ****** as a one-time courtesy.

Please understand that the parking lot where you have parked your vehicle is private, and registration is required if you wish to park your vehicle. If there is no parking registration, your vehicle is considered unauthorized. Please follow our rules and guidelines when parking in the lot to avoid further notices.

We hope this resolves the matter.

Indigo Parking (indigoneo.ca) engages in fraudulent business behavior, charging innocent customers with parking tickets for no violations. In fact - ************ parking lot in ********, ** is a free for 2h parking space for customers of the businesses in ************. After 40 minutes of parking in a free spot, I found a ticket falsely stating that I failed to pay or time expired. Upon calling them, the justification was that I have not registered with Indigo At the entrance of the parking lot, the 2h FREE parking for ************ customers is largely and clearly advertised with no conditions. Indigo placed a few conspicuous signs in the interior of the parking lot, not visible for all customers, some behind parking spaces with limited visibility, stating that "registration with Indigo is required" in order to benefit of the 2h free parking.Unaware customers are ticketed for no fault of their own with $65 or $90 if not paid within 10 days.Basically they are emitting tickets not for parking violations or non-payment, but for a failure to register with Indigo requirement which is intentionally not clearly stated and advertised to the customers.I consider this business practice fraudulent, with clear intent.I contacted Indigo and expressed my concerns about the practice, lack of advertising with regards to their registration requirements and the eventual associated penalties and I requested the ticket to be voided, apologies to be presented and a promise to place clear and visible signs at the parking entry regarding registration requirements and penalties for failure to comply.I received an email with a reduction of the penalty to $20 which I consider unsatisfactory. This behavior constitutes open theft and must be addressed by the authorities.I will also file a complaint with ************* Business licensing bureau to investigate.

My partner and I arrived at **** ***** ***** **, Burnaby, BC *** *** ***** **** ( and parked outside the coffee shop to stop by for a quick coffee not knowing it was private, but were surprised to find it was private. (license plate ******)
There were no signs indicating it was a paid parking spot at any of the spots and we were surprised to find a ticket waiting for us on our dashboard only 15 minutes after we parked. We looked all around the parking lot only to find a tiny sign and pay station that was not obviously marked near the entrance of the building nor on any of the individual parking spots.

We would like to request an adjustment/cancellation to this unreasonable fine and request Indigo Parking to put more signs on the lot and also the ENTRANCE of the building so it is more easily visible. We are honest people who have always paid for parking and we find it very unfair that it seems like the merchant did not do its due diligence in making the signs or parking meter more visible to the consumer.
