Dear BBB Complaints Department,I am writing to formally submit a complaint against **** Doughnuts, a business operating in ****************, regarding their failure to honor their advertised retail pricing. On 3/5/2025, I received an invoice from Lees Doughnuts that did not align with their publicly advertised prices. After identifying the discrepancy, I contacted the business directly and requested a correction in line with British Columbias Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (BPCPA), which requires businesses to honor their advertised pricing. Despite my efforts, **** Doughnuts has refused to adjust the invoice to reflect the correct pricing. This practice is misleading and potentially in violation of consumer protection laws. Under Section ***** of the federal Competition Act, businesses in ****** are prohibited from charging more than their advertised price. Furthermore, under BCs Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act, businesses must not misrepresent pricing or charge higher amounts than what was advertised unless explicitly agreed upon by the consumer.I am seeking the following resolution:1. A correction to my invoice so that I am charged the advertised price.2. A review of **** Doughnuts' pricing practices to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws.I kindly request that the BBB investigate this matter and work with the business to resolve the discrepancy. If necessary, I am prepared to escalate this issue to Consumer Protection BC and the **************************** for further action.Attached to this letter, you will find copies of:- The invoice issued by **** Doughnuts - Evidence of their advertised pricing (website, menu, or other promotional materials)- My correspondence with the business requesting a resolution Please confirm receipt of this complaint and provide any next steps for resolution. I appreciate your assistance in ensuring fair business practices in ****************.
