I approached ******, the manager, and I assume owner of this company. I asked if he bought gold and he said yes. I left him the gold jewellery and other gold items to assemble a quote. He never mentioned any other criteria on his reasons for buying gold to me. The value of the jewellery was $960. And of course, it is always wise to get a second or third quote. I went to Premiere Jewelers in ******* and they quoted me $2500. I asked him why the big difference and I found his explanation very confusing so this is just a heads up if you want to sell gold always get a second or third quote.

We are a reputable Jewellery store and have been in business for over 20 years. Among many Canadian designer lines we carry, our reputation has also earned us the sole rights to represent ************ ( Established in 1879 ). We are not in the business of buying and selling used Jewellery items.

There are rare occasions that our customers approach us to liquidate their old used Jewellery and at the time of intake, this is always explained to each customer that we are only able to offer scrap gold value or melt down value as we dont sell any used items. We sell this gold jewellery as scrap metal to a smelting company and we then recover the metal value that we had paid to our client.

This was explained to this client at the time of drop off by our staff and I personally explained over the phone when he was contacted to tell him the meltdown value of it. We do it with all the other customers with similar requests and it is our standard policy. This policy is in place to avoid similar misunderstanding to occur.

The items were dropped off in November and its meltdown value was suggested to him after evaluation of the gold , testing and based on gold prices at the time the offer was made. The client decided to take them back and try other places which was not a problem from our side at all. He did not pay or was charged anything for our service.

He was able to find a place that sells used jewellery in another city nearby to offer him more for the gold jewellery to be sold as used pieces by them versus offering the scrap gold value by us and we are very glad for him since we encourage our clients to do that regardless.

The nature of our business is selling fine new jewellery pieces versus a business selling used jewellery,  these two are totally different businesses by nature. It seems, despite four detailed email communications with him,  that this gentleman has difficulty understanding this fundamental difference.

It is also important to note that gold fluctuates very rapidly, specially in the past little while and the items were sold a month later.

Unfortunately, there must have been a misunderstanding and this was also explained in the response emails when the concern was raised.

It is also very unfortunate that BBB is being used to tarnish the image of an honest and reputable business on a misunderstanding as we are always upfront with our customers.

GOLDN TIME There are rare occasions that our customers approach us to liquidate their old used Jewellery and at the time of intake, this is always explained to each customer that we are only able to offer scrap gold value or melt down value as we dont sell any used items. This was explained to this client at the time of drop off by our staff and I personally explained over the phone when he was contacted to tell him the meltdown value of it.****** This was not explained to me. My first knowledge of the quoted price was during his one and only phone call. As I recall, the only other thing mentioned in the phone call was to let him know two or three days ahead of my decision so that he could have a check prepared for me when I came to pick it ******* N TIME The items were dropped off in November and its meltdown value was suggested to him after evaluation of the gold , testing and based on gold prices at the time the offer was made.****** The meltdown value was not suggested.GOLDN TIME He was able to find a place that sells used jewellery in another city nearby to offer him more for the gold jewellery to be sold as used pieces by them versus offering the scrap gold value by us and we are very glad for him since we encourage our clients to do that regardless.****** Two of the items I sold were rings I earned at ***** for achieving sales above my objectives. One of the rings had the large letters BTE clearly engraved on the top; the other ring had a ***** marketing logo on each side. I also gave him gold from two crowns removed from my mouth during dentist visits; and I also gave him a very small amount of gold flakes that I panned from *********** many many years ago. It was a very small amount. The only resealable jewellery were two necklaces and two earrings. Its obvious that Premier Jewellery was going to sell these items as scrap gold, except for the two jewelry. On another note, it would seem logical that Premier Jewellery would buy at a lesser price so they could price the jewellery to be sold to address their needed profit margin.GOLDN TIME It seems, despite four detailed email communications with him, that this gentleman has difficulty understanding this fundamental difference.****** Yes, I did have difficulty understanding. I obviously, as a consumer approaching a business, that purchased gold, wanted the best price possible. The price I received from Premium Jewelry in ******* was almost three times greater then GOLDN TIME. His price was around $960. The price from Premium Jewellery was $2510. (See quote below, and also notice items identified as gold scrap.)GOLDN TIME It is also important to note that gold fluctuates very rapidly, specially in the past little while and the items were sold a month later.****** The price of gold on Nov 11th in USD was $2,721 per ounce. The price on December 18th of same USD was $2,651. (These prices were taken from *************.)GOLDN TIME It is also very unfortunate that BBB is being used to tarnish the image of an honest and reputable business on a misunderstanding as we are always upfront with our customers.****** It IS fortunate that ******************** is an organization that protects both the consumer and the business. This whole scenario is based on unfair and a major difference pricing for the purchasing of gold.QUOTES:GOLDN TIMES quote was written on the bottom of the envelope that the jewelly was store in.
