    Unfortunately, my experience with renovating was not in keeping with some of the comments I’ve read here.
    In fact, when I was searching for a contractor to renovate my condominium, it was these reviews and ratings that lead me to my choice.
    It’s been approximately eight months since the renovation wrapped up and prior to now I wrestled with the idea of leaving a review, not wanting to be negative and still somewhat emotional about the experience, but I’ve since come to the conclusion that it’s important for potential customers to hear that not everyone has been similarly impressed.
    Looking back, I realize I put blind faith in the contractor, which was naive on my part and I have to own that.
    My primary advice to anyone looking to have a renovation completed is simply to stay on top of the details daily: including your budget, timelines and quality expectations to help avoid disappointment as much as you can. I would also recommend trying to get some things in writing with respect to budget, scope, time and quality. As much as I prefer to work on a handshake, it doesn’t always work out.
