  The consultant I was dealing with didn't honor our original agreement to help me self-publish my ebook, softcover, hardcover, and audiobook. He decided just to print the book and let go of the audiobook. He said that due to the questions I asked during our conversations led him to believe that my tech skills and computer wise constituted a stretch of my abilities. He wanted someone else to navigate the process of self-publishing my book ******* ** ** *** *** ***** **** **** ***** ******* ** ******** ** ** *** *** ****** He doesn't know me **** **** and/or know my level of education. I intended to hire FriesenPress as experts to help me self-publish my book, not to be insulted in the process. I know the consultant was upset because I told him I had done my own editing and would do my own marketing. ** *** **** ********** ** ****** **** ***** **** ** ******* ** ******* ** ******* **** *** ********** **** I told him I felt insulted by his demeanor, ** ****** ******* ** ***** ***** **** ** **** ******** *** ** **** *** *** ****** **** ************** ********

  Firstly, I apologize that our last interaction left you with feeling insulted. I understand you had initial discussions with one of our consultants about publishing your book, but no formal agreement was signed, no funds were exchanged and no work was completed on your manuscript. As a publishing services provider, we want to ensure every author who partners with us is prepared and set up for success, and our process requires a level of comfort with technology and various software programs. Getting a sense of an authors' technical skills is an important step for us; your consultant suggested starting with the print editions first so you could get familiar with our process. This would be a great way see if it's the right fit for you before you commit to additional services and expenses.
  While we had hoped to connect with you directly to discuss, we nevertheless wish you all the best with your book and hope you find the right path to bring your story to life.

  Your consultant pressed for me to get the audio version of my book at the same time I got the print version. When I told him I was going ahead with his recommendations and proceeded to ask him some questions about your publishing process, he didn't like it, ****** ** ** ***** ** ******** ******, and wanted me to get someone else to handle the navigation process of producing my book. **** ********** ***** ** ****** *** ****** ******. He certainly does not know how to treat a customer so that he or she would feel comfortable with the process. It takes more than knowing technical jargon, it takes finesse to deal with customers.

  I felt safe throughout the entire publishing process with FriesenPress. The editor, proofreader, and book designer did excellent work and were happy to discuss their corrections and suggestions with me. My publication specialist was a superb communicator who I had confidence in, knowing that she would address every question or concern I had. Lastly, the promotions specialist spent months with me improving my social media and marketing skills. I went from posting an occasional photo on Facebook or Instagram to creating business accounts on both and learning how make posts and reels to promote my book. This lead to two interviews about the book on podcasts.
  FriesenPress made the experience of publishing my first book a delight. I would use their services again.

  How can I best express my gratitude for the advice, direction, and support that I have received from my "team" at FriesenPress? "Thank you" is true but hardly enough. Over the months that it took for my publishing specialist, copy editor, and designer to turn my original manuscript into a published book, I always felt that my best interests were at heart. My questions were many, my inexperience very obvious; I had never published a book and I am not a technological wonder. So I will always be grateful especially for the patience and understanding that everyone showed me. We were separated by several provinces across the country and thus separated by time zones, yet without fail I received a most timely response from my publishing specialist to every one of my emails. And it was especially nice to have those chats on the telephone. My book is now published and I am so happy with the responses I receive from people as they hold it and admire the cover design--and then read it. I spent a very long time, years in fact, on my book and it was emotionally very difficult for me to finally let it go, but my "team" helped me. Very best, Marianne
