On April 17 I took my 2016 GMC Canyon to this business for replacement of an oil pressure sensor and spark plug replacement. He also replaced Engine Intake Manifold Gasket Set.
After picking up my truck on the drive home I noticed the truck was misfiring so I called back and was told they didn't notice on test drive. Good Friday was the next day so I was advised to come back Sat. 19th.
On Sat I went back we went for a test drive and he admitted yes it was misfiring and to bring it back on Tues. April 22.
That afternoon when I went to pick it up, the vehicle would not stay running, hardly starting.
He said further tests were needed and would to some more investigating.
On Wednesday April 23 around 12:40 pm he called to tell me my motor was blown as cylinder 6 was showing no compression.
This truck was in excellent shape ran great before I took it to him, it doesn't even have 70km on it.
I called *** to meet me there so I could get it towed to ******** **** ** *********.
I has to spend over $******* to get my truck running again. On top of that he damaged my front grill which I noticed when I washed my truck after picking it up on May 20 th.
******** **** found a rock stuck in my exhaust valve which only could have happened when he removed the intake manifold to replace the spark plugs.
I have all bills and a finding report from ******** ***** ************* **** ******* I want a refund for the bill I paid to him

    Business Response

    Date: 08/07/2025

Kathy had brought her 2016 GMC Canyon to us and she had said that the oil pressure reading keeps going up and down and was not staying steady. I even test drove the vehicle with her prior to the repair and noticed that the oil pressure reading was not staying consistent. She had taken the vehicle to another place prior to coming to us (if I can recall I think it was *** ****) and they had advised her to change the spark plugs and oil pressure sensor. She brought the vehicle to us and brought a report from the other service shop. As she had advised us, we replaced the spark plugs and oil pressure sensor as well. Since we had to remove the intake manifold we had to replace the gasket as well. The vehicle started and was test driven and no misfire was happening at that time. I then called Kathy to pick up the vehicle. If there was a rock in the intake manifold the vehicle would have a issue right away at first time after replacing the spark plugs. The engine has moving parts if there was a rock in the system there would a issue right away and we would have noticed it on start up and would not have called Kathy to pick up the vehicle. As Kathy had advised us we replaced the spark plugs and oil pressure sensor.

Kathy had called back and said that the vehicle is misfiring. I advised her to bring the vehicle back and I checked and yes, it was misfiring. I told her to drop the vehicle off to us. We did a computer diagnose and it showed multi cylinder misfire. We changed the spark plugs again to ensure there was no issues with the previous spark plugs. We did a compression test and it showed the cylinder 6 had no compression. I advised her about the problem and that her engine needed to be replaced. Since the vehicle only had 67,528klms on the vehicle, I asked her if she still has warranty on her vehicle and if she does she should get it replaced under warranty.

The front grille was not damaged by us as we did not have to remove the grille in order to replace the parts or do the diagnose the second time when she brought the vehicle back to us.

Kathy was only charged for the initial repair that she had asked us to do. We did not charge her any fee for the diagnose of the misfire when she brought the vehicle back to us as a courtesy even thought there is a charge for it. I can send both receipts if requested. First receipt of the initial repair requested and the receipt of the misfire diagnose.

Kathy had brought her vehicle to us for the first time. We are unaware of the history of the vehicle. The rock could have entered through the air filter when it was dirty or torn. She had advised us to change the certain parts and we changed them as she had advised us and she got the vehicle diagnosed elsewhere prior to bring the vehicle to us and telling us the parts that she wants replaced.

    Thank you,
