Pillar refused to help maintain my property. They did not retrieve the keys from the tenants. I had to pay to get carpets cleaned, plumber to fix the toilet, cleaners to clean up all the mess, locksmith to change the locks.

I feel like Pillar should be responsible for all these issues and should reimburse me for these expenses.

***** ****** ** ****** ** **** ******* When it comes to repairs on any property we manage, we provide a quote that clients sign off on before work begins. The scope of the work was made very clear in the quote we provided to Laura. We were renovating the basement after mold was discovered due to excessive moisture in the basement. Our scope was to remove the mold present, clean, and make the necessary repairs to the drywall, flooring, baseboards, ect. We were not removing the source of the mold as it was not requested.
When it comes to the vacancy in the home, it was not done on purpose as Laura suggests. Here at Pillar we have a policy wherein we do NOT collect management fees during times of vacancy. This is done for two reasons. 1: To give owners confidence that we are always acting in their best interest. 2: incentivize employees to have the unit rented out as soon as possible. Market conditions can make renting certain units challenging, because of the state of the market, the condition of the home, etc., it attracts certain types of tenants.
Now as for ceasing communication with Laura and cancelling her management agreement, we can do that at any time, especially under these circumstances. Laura ****** was **** calling my office taking up all of my staffs time. Between the amount of **** calls and slander coming from Laura, we decided to terminate the agreement.

Please see my final response to the complaint from Laura *******

Final response: Pillar did not refuse to help maintain her property. If we refused to do so, we would not have provided Laura with our maintenance services to address her concerns in the past. Laura ****** has been very happy with our services up until the incident that she filed her original complaint about. She left us a google review about our amazing service w**** * **** ******** ** *********

We could not retrieve the keys from the tenants as they abandoned the property and we have not heard from them since.

When it comes to the carpets getting cleaned, plumber fixing the toilet, and cleaners to clean up the mess as well as locksmith to change the locks. She did not mention if this was done during our time managing her property. If it was after we terminated her contract with us then we are in no way responsible for this. If she provides dates and times, it would be much easier to address this issue.

As of now Laura ****** is looking to place blame on someone other than herself for the situation she put herself in. In our experience here at Pillar this is often the case when landlords invest poorly. They place blame on the property managers for things that are out of our control, such as the current market conditions that are affecting the real-estate market in Winnipeg.
