July 29, 2023 - We thought we bought a suit!
Our son is getting married on August 2nd of this year. We started looking for a suit for the father of the groom in December of 2022.
There was an online sale at Tip Top so we took advantage of the sale. To be sure we ordered the right size online, we went to the Tip Top location at Kildonan Place to be fitted. We told them it would be for a wedding in August and we would go to the St. Vital store to have it altered closer to the wedding. Once he was fitted, we ordered the suit online. It arrived shortly after.
We went at the end of May, early June for the alterations. I asked for the tailor to do the measurements as we wanted it to be perfect for the wedding.
When the tailor saw him in the suit we ordered, she immediately said we had the wrong size jacket. She got him a different size which fit him much better.
Then the problems started. Tip Top no longer carried the suit that was on sale. The clerk went and got the manager to see what he could do. He said he would return the jacket we bought. I asked if the new jacket would match the old pants and he said yes, they were the same colour. I did not really see them together as I have mobility issues and spent most of the time in the sitting area. ** ******* *** ******** ** ***** *** ****** ** ***.
I asked the manager if he could not give us a deal on the jacket somehow as it was in the $*** range as opposed to the one we bought for $** which he said was discontinued. He also said he was doing us a favour by taking the old jacket back after such a long time and told the clerk he would have to eat the cost himself. I asked if the new jacket would be going on sale and he said they do not go on sale. We trusted the manager even though he was extremely rude to us.
So, we set up the alteration for pick up on the 26th. The tailor would be on holidays after grad season until then.
Well right after grad season the suit went on sale offering free pants. Pants that would match. Had I known beforehand of the mis-match, I would have asked the store to switch them then.
We went yesterday and my husband tried on the altered “suit”. I could see at once that it did not match (* **** ******** * *****). Our clerk was busy dealing with at least three other customers. I saw the manager but did not want to approach him as he was so rude the last time. Also, my husband was having a difficult day, so we left the store.
I would at least like to have a proper suit. I want to return the $*** altered mismatched pants that he will have to wear to the wedding as father of the groom. (********* ** *** ** *** ****** *******. I would then like to receive a pair of free pants (the sale) that actually match the jacket. I also do not think I should pay for altering the new pair as we were assured, we were getting a “suit”.
    I hope that we can be accommodated. * ** ******* * **** ** **** ****** ** *** ****** ******** ******* **** ****** * ****** ** *** *****

We dealt with the manager today at Tip Top, and he was extremely apologetic and very nice.  Our issue has been resolved to our satisfaction.  We are happy that it was resolved quickly and before the wedding.  I would shop at Tip Top again.  ********* *** ** ***** ******
