I Googled where I could get my taxes done for free on April 7, 2024. This business had an advertisement claiming to do taxes for seniors and those with low income. I spoke to woman called *****, and after a very short period of time she advised me that I owed $1900. I asked if she had used my disability tax credit and she became very confused. I had mentioned several times that I was accepted to use my disability tax credit. At this point of the conversation she advised me that she would have to speak to her supervisor. She had not asked for any of my information on my T4's, and T4A. *** ********* *** *** ********** **** *** *** *****. I asked that she not submit any information to the government as I would find someone else to do my taxes.

    Business Response

My name is *** ******, Coordinator at CVITP Free tax clinic (NCSM) FREE TAX CLINIC. I investigated this case and I am aware *****, our dedicated volunteer, prepared this client's file. I did recheck the file and her dtc was applied and it showed her refund. I then asked ***** to call her to explain and get authorization to efile her return. As per ***** she didn't pick up the phone when she tried twice. They can always reach out to me or ask my volunteers to give them my number in case they don't find it on the *** website where our clinic is listed. I always resolve the issue in my end if it is out of the volunteers' reach.

We do free tax filing for seniors, low-income individuals, students, home insecure individuals and other eligible individuals as per *** guidelines.

We deleted all her information and didn't send her file to CRA as there was no response. I don't see anything we advertised in Google is falsely done.

Furthermore to clarify, she was owing $1900 to the government (CRA) prior to her DTC adjustment. She wasn't owing our organization or we never asked for fees for our service.

I can be reached at 2042908413 if you have any further questions or concerns. If she can call me I can explain everything in detail.

    Thank you,

    *** ******
