Had a fire August 16/23. Despite multiple complaints to the contractor (First general) and the insurance company (********) barely anything has been done. Finally got a window Dec 21/23. June 27/24 they took the burnt facia and soffit down and replaced the lumber/shingles. Messaged First General to see when they’d come get the debris from my yard, and still no message over a week ago now. This company is dragging the repairs on, making me waste money for heat in winter when I had boards and plastic on my kitchen window. Heat loss from the burnt roof, and no eavestrough still so the water pounds down and my basement is wet for the first time in ten years. I want this finished already.

The insured did have a fire at her residence, and we did attend and provided a cleanup and temporary repairs. We compiled sub trade estimates for the damages and after lengthy process of estimate review by the insurance company (2 months), purchase orders were issued to these sub trades, typically custom size windows take 8-10 weeks to be prepared and installed, which took us into the colder months which are prohibitive to the required exterior work, although during these months all of the interior work was performed and completed to her satisfaction.

The exterior work was scheduled for the spring but due to the significant amount of precipitation and storm systems that have impacted Winnipeg and the surrounding municipalities roofing contractors have been stretched thin providing urgent emergency services to other properties. My roofing contractor was contacted several times for updates on start dates and will be completed the roof repairs in the next few days. The exterior siding that was ordered for the residence months ago, was back ordered and we anticipate its arrival in the next few weeks, at which time it will be installed. The only element remaining will be the power supply for the homeowner's hot tub.
