I have a camper which has a lien on it in my name. Someone that I allowed to borrow the unit fraudulent changed the ownership into their name and traded the camper in with this dealership, who changed the ownership into their name and did not do a proper lien check. The dealership is refusing to take ownership of their mistake and pay out the lien as they cannot sell the camper. They are trying to get the customer who traded it in to pay out the lien, but I’m still on the hook for it until it’s paid in full. Please assist in anyway you can!

    Business Response

    Date: 19/08/2022

    Good Morning,

This situation came about when customers came into our dealership and purchased a new trailer and traded in their current one.  The customers told us that they had purchased the trailer from  their niece ****** **** ****** months ago.  When we took the their trade as is our practice we did run a lien search in New Brunswick as the trailer had NB plates we had no way on knowing that their niece lived in Nova Scotia.  When she contacted us we immediately reached out to our customers who said that they had indeed bought the trailer from Ms. ****** there niece and they were not aware there was a lien on it as she never told them.  The customers are coming back to the dealership next week to payout the lien on the trailer.

I believe this is a family situation and as Ms. ****** stated that her Aunt and Uncle fraudulently changed the ownership on her property than she surely would have file a complaint with the police by now as they say they bought it months ago.

Our customers were shocked when we advised them of the call we got from their niece.   I suspect she did indeed sell her trailer to them and did not pay out her lien when she was paid for the trailer and is now expecting we will pay it out which we will not do.

Once our customers bring in the money we will pay out the lien for them.
