My house suffered extension damage on July 21st and 22nd, 2023. ** Insurance set me up with First General Services (Halifax) Ltd. for the mitigation and repair/rebuild services. ****** ***** is the project manager. Mitigation services were performed and $9339.14 was paid to First General.

First General provided an estimate for $15813.05 for the repair/rebuild services. They also advised that some services would be considered private and could still be performed at the same time. I requested that all work be done simultaneously as there is overlap, to ensure no further delays and to ensure that no further damage would occur in the interim. September 21st; ****** advised that the work would take a week with a minimum of two crew per day. Claim work began on October 4th, 2023 and no further work has been performed since early November, 2023. On January 3rd, 2024, I paid a $500 deposit for the private work, which has not even been initiated.

I have reached out to ****** multiple times a week since early November and have not been given confirmation as to if or when the remaining work will be completed. I am disappointed, unsatisfied and disgusted with this business. I will never work with them again and will never recommend them.

As is stated below in my desired settlement, I have recently requested that First General provide me with an invoice for their completed repair/rebuild work for me to review. Then once approved, I can submit to insurance for them to be paid. That way, I can find another reliable contractor to complete the work in a reasonable time frame. I also asked that First General refund my deposit for the private work.

Please ensure that the appropriate steps are made ASAP.

    Sincerely,

    ***** ****

I am rejecting this response because: the complaint has not yet been resolved. I am currently in discussion with the business owner about the work that has been completed as well as the work that has not been completed. Estimates and invoices and next steps are currently in review.

Company was here July 11 to do report/quote for my insurance company but had not sent in report even though contacted to do so by insurance and myself. I spoke to project manager sometime ago and he said he had a couple things to do and he’d send it in but he hasn’t bothered to do this. He even asked if he got a Subcontractor to do the work would I be ok with it and I said yes. He led me to believe the report would go in quickly. I’m beyond frustrated and this is totally unacceptable. Insurance is trying to escalate my claim as it’s been so long but can’t do anything without their repirt

     Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 20654686, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  They did meet with me indicating they sent report to Insurance. I did contact Insurance to get confirmation of receipt however, to date they have not contacted me to confirm this but will take the word of the contractor. They indicated work will begin week of Oct 21…
