This transaction was facilitated, signed and installation was carried out all within a 2 day period, taking place on September 9th, 2022 A sales individual approached the home, was very pushy on the price of the water system and the fact the pricing was only going to be "promotional" for a short period, so we must act now. There was no time to think about the transaction before they had us signing a contract. The system only worked for a very short period of time, despite being promised warranty throughout the contract (which is a 10 year term). We were promised service to repair any issues and to change filters, that this would be included in the contract, the labor AND the parts both.. When we called for service we were told this was not included, despite the agreement and we were billed. We are elderly and did not understand the contract to begin with - we just went by the sales persons aggressive tactics that this would be looked after. We are now stuck in a 10 year commitment with a piece of equipment that does not operate. Had we have had time to think about the decision to purchase, we would not have done so if we had the chance to consult any other person before being pressured. It now would appear this company is not licensed to sell equipment any longer - indicating they will likely not be in business much longer. How will they continue to fulfill their end of the agreement if they are not in business? Concerns about still paying a finance company while not being serviced as agreed.

****, we appreciate your concerns however you have nothing to be worried about.  Although Atlantic Environmental Systems has had its direct sellers license suspended, this does not prohibit us from doing business and servicing our customers.  We are fully capable of servicing your water treatment equipment and we will do so as agreed. We have a legal and authorized business license to operate in the province of Nova Scotia and we will continue to be in business without concern.  We are appealing the decision with regards to our direct sellers license and we feel confident that we will have this decision reversed in our favor.  Please keep in mind that a direct sellers license is only necessary when selling products in a home.  This has nothing to do with servicing our existing customer base, so once again you have nothing to be concerned about, we will be here to service you well into the future. If you need servicing on your water treatment equipment please feel free to reach out to our office at any time and we would be more than happy to send out one of our professional service technicians to service your water treatment equipment. Please keep in mind that although we do provide you with service on your water treatment equipment at no charge, consumables such as water filters and parts are chargeable items. If you need any further clarification please feel free to contact us at anytime, thank you.

My Son started employment with Atlantic Enviromentals in January 2024, They test water and sell water treatment systems. We were told that my son had to sell a certain amount of units to get this system free, we just pay the tax. Due to verbal abuse by the owner, my son had to resign from the company. We have had numerous issues with the systems and the quality of water coming from them. We taste sulphur and the water is foamy and cloudy. When I attempted to resolve this wit the company, they call me names, make fun of my situation and refuse to take the systems back. I am on CPP disabilty for failed back surgery . They have not credited my son for the units sold and are demanding full payment...not just the tax portion. My agreement had a withdrawl monthly for $230.62, to which they are trying to take out of $300 monthly. I want these systems out of my house and returned to company. ******** the finance company said they will cancel the loan if AE will take back the systems, and when I called the owner to make arrangements I was laughed and told it sucks to be me. They refuse to document my calls of complaints and act as each call i make to them is the first. I do not want any money, I simply want them to take their systems back and cancel the loan. Please help. ***** ******* ** * ***** and has verbally abused me and my son several times

I am rejecting this response because: I have already called the company several times and have been verbally abused by the owner ***** ******* and the representative ***** assigned to my account. I am happy to pay a plumber to remove the systems from my house and return to Atlantic Environmental systems.  ******** have already approved that they will cancel the loan ID atlantic environmental with take them back. They are refusing, and have done nothing to resolve this but verbally abuse and hang up. This company is extremely threatening and unprofessional and they do not document all the complaints and make each new complaint feel like it's the first time they have heard of my call.

I am filling this out on behalf of my father, ****** ******, who contacted the Better Business Bureau by phone requesting the forms by mail. He does not have email or a computer. I recently learned from reading *** articles (published May 9 and June 6) that my father, ****** ******, had purchased a water system installed on November 18, 2023 from Atlantic Environmental Systems Inc. My father is recently widowed and is 77 years old. He told us he was contacted by Atlantic Environmental Systems by phone to test his water. Following the two hour presentation, he asked the sales consultant if he could talk over the idea of adopting this water system with his children. He was told if he didn't take the deal in that moment, the deal would go away. This is unacceptable. Not only did he feel pressured, he was also overwhelmed by the two hour long presentation that deemed his water was of poor quality/unsafe. This water assessment isn't even with any of the documents left behind by this company. In order to pay for this water system, my father signed a ********* loan agreement (with high interest and 15 years to pay the loan - he will be 92, 15 years from now). My father continues to make monthly payments out of fear that if he stops, he will have bad credit. He feels confused and embarrassed. I wrote the business owner and voiced my concerns after learning about the negative press and then asking my father more questions. I told him the above information, thinking the following recent changes in ***** ********* business practices would make a difference: "for clients over the age of 70 would limit a 10 year financing agreement, and clients over the age of 72 will also require a co-signer under the age of 65." *11 pg contract is too big to send Main response: However, I regret to inform you that I am unable to issue a refund under any circumstances. We can alternatively send his water to a laboratory to prove that the systems are functioning correctly.

********,  we never pressure anyone into entering into any sale that they don't feel comfortable in doing so.  We also offer a full 10 day cancellation clause whereby the customer can cancel the agreement at anytime within the 10 days without a reason to cancel. We did not receive any request to cancel this sales agreement and as such the sale became firm and complete. The water treatment equipment installed into your father's home is of excellent quality as well as and will improve his water for many years to come. This will in turn save him money on his water using appliances and chemical usage as well as improve the quality of the water he uses when he showers and bathes. We are more than happy to share with you the water testing information that was conducted to show you that the water in his home needed to be improved. The negative press articles you have read are full of half truths and lies and are not accurate by any means. We encourage you to review the financing agreements that your father has signed as there are pre payment opportunities that might be advantageous to consider. Thank you.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 14/07/2024

I am rejecting this response because:

I don't agree with your opinion that he was not pressured into this sale. He should have had the opportunity to have one of his children co-sign this with him as he is 77 years of age. When asked if he could review the purchase with one of us, he was told the deal went away after the sales representative left his home. He was given a 14 page document to sign on the spot, with no time for him to review what is stipulated in that document. Please send him the results of the water testing you did on his water to show that it was poor quality.

I was unable to find any information on the soaps he has adopted in addition to the system you installed (soap, laundry detergent, shampoo etc). Are they products needed for optimal performance of this water system? I noted the price of these products - almost $2000.

In addition to the above queries, I noted that a portion of the sale of the water system is donated to Ronald McDonald House. What portion of my father's sale did Ronald McDonald House receive?

I still believe my father was taken advantage of, and I would hope you can do the right thing in removing the water system and returning his money.

    Business Response

    Date: 16/07/2024

Thank you for your response.  We never take advantage of anyone especially elderly people, We offer a full refund on all purchases within a 10 day cancellation period as stated on the sales agreement.  Your father did not cancel his sales agreement within those 10 days and unfortunately his sales agreement is binding. The soap package that we provided to him works optimally with soft conditioned water and that is why we offer it to all of our customers as it saves them time and money. We would encourage you to review the benefits of soft conditioned water and you will see how it actually saves a substantial amount of money by having it in your home. Please feel free to contact our offices to discuss any of the concerns you may have as we are always more than happy to review any purchase and find a solution to make our customers fully satisfied. Thank you once again for bringing your concerns to our attention and we look forward to hearing from you.

Atlantic Environmental had a representative in my home on March 17th to do free water testing and during their sales pitch they informed me that they would fix my water problems and that I had an opportunity at a one time offer to get there system at a very low discounted price. They told me it's a special offer that they give their new employees where the first unit they sell is majorly discounted on the pretense they sell 10 more units. This stipulation worried me, and I voiced that with the *****, ***** *******, and he assured me that she would sell 10 within her first month of employment and that I could rest assure the deal would withhold. Now I had the systems installed in my home and I've had problem after problem with them. I have a family with 3 young children and livestock. Their water system is not fixing the problems, it is just creating more. I now struggle with water pressure problems due to their treatment filter getting clogged. My shower has so little pressure sometimes that it won't even start, my clothes washing machine will not fill with water to start (due to lack of pressure and clogged filters), my kitchen dishwasher can not wash. They claim I have the worst water that they engineer has ever seen in their 20 years of expertise and that I'd be best to install a water cistern to collect rainwater because my well water is not feasible to treat, but I've had 2 other water treatment companies say that my water is not too bad to treat and that this company has the systems installed incorrectly causing more problems and trying to cost me more money. This company committed to provide me with clean, safe drinking water, and the only resolution that they have offered me is to fork our thousands more dollars, which other companies are telling me is unnecessary and a scam to rip me off of more money. They also informed me that I'm no longer getting the discounted rate on the system and I'm on the hook for the full $14k, not only $2500. Please help

We did attend your home and took water samples which we sent to our engineers to review.  They did extensive testing on the water samples and they did determine that your water was some of the worst they have ever seen. We designed a water treatment system that would work based on the recommendations from the engineers, and offered you an option to reduce the costs involved in the purchase of the water treatment system. You agreed to undertake this option and you also agreed to all of the conditions involved. You signed a sales contract with all of the conditions clearly spelled out and you agreed that this was the best option for you. We advised you that there were many issues that have caused the water problems in your home including construction in your area that has affected the water table in your area and as such we recommended a whole home Reverse Osmosis System to properly treat your water. We also suggested a water cistern and this was presented to you as an alternative to solve your water treatment issues.  We have been fully transparent and up front with you and offered you solutions to solving your water issues. We have designed a system for you that will work and we suggest ignore competitors comments which are not truthful and accurate.  We always support our customers and we are always willing to service your water treatment system in order to make sure that everything is functioning as it should be. Please feel free to reach out to us at anytime so we can work together to make sure your water treatment systems are operating at their optimal levels.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 26/06/2024

I am rejecting this response because: You told me you could fix my water problem, and your systems have been nothing but a problem after the first few months. Since, we have had terrible water coming into our home, tasting like iron and oxidizing to orange water. Bath tubs that I had to run for bathing my children in that have been tinted orange due to poor optimization.

You tell me that my water is "so bad" and "the worst your engineer has ever since", then you must have an engineer that you claim has 20-30 years experience, but he must've lied on his resume. Because I've personally sent my water out to be tested with 2 OTHER companies that both say my water is treatable and NOT as bad as you are implying it is. You also told me that there is NO economical and sustainable way to treat my water from my well, so I should install a water cistern and collect and treat rain water instead. Which none of my neighbors have to do and we are all on the same water table. And then when I showed resistance to the water cistern idea, and told you that I wanted to end our agreement and find a better option elsewhere. You said "please don't leave, work with us". You said that you would replace my current titanium system with a new system with better bedding material inside (free of cost), service them every month unlimitedly for lifetime (free of cost), supply me with a special salt and additive (unsure if you were going to charge me for these or not).

It doesn't make sense that you're willing to do that if I supposedly have UNTREATABLE water. So, your company would put out all that money to service and clean it monthly, but before you told me my water was untreatable and I needed to collect rainwater ?? That information isn't lining up, and it seems as though you were purely trying to scam me out of money to install this water cistern.

All the conditions were not laid out on the sales agreement, the only papers I have are the ones that I sent in, none of it outlined how I was supposed to get the whole system at a discounted price when your representative sold there quota of units, I asked for that to be detailed and never received it.

I was told that a Reverse Osmosis System wouldn't even find the problem, because it don't handle or treat iron, which is my #1 problem. So you're just trying to scam more money out of me.

I think the odds of both other companies being untruthful (who tell me the same thing, that my water is treatable, not that bad and I don't need a water cistern or a reverse osmosis system), verses your one company being untruthful and trying to scam people of more money ? I think it's clear where the verdict lies.

I want out of this agreement and for this company to come and removal ALL of their equipment and I will have one of the other companies that are not trying to scam me to come and fix my terrible water conditions.

    Business Response

    Date: 02/07/2024

Thank you for your most recent response.  As we stated previously, we have been to your home and advised you on the condition of your water. The conditions of your water have changed since the water table in your area has been affected by construction in your locale. We have recommended solutions to your water issues, and you have been reluctant to accept the recommendations we have provided. We suggest that you contact us to discuss these recommendations as they will assist in improving your water. We have been in business for many years, and we have had our senior engineering team look at your water samples and we can assist you, but you must take our recommendations and apply them, and this will make great improvements to your water.  Once again, we suggest you contact us to discuss these options rather than use this form to complain, which will not solve any of the water treatment issues you are facing.  We look forward to hearing from you so we can improve the water in your home. Thank you.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 03/07/2024

I am rejecting this response because: all you keep offering me is a water cistern, which is just trying to rip me off for more money. Multiple companies have informed me that my water is treatable and not the worst they have every seen. My water is treatable and you only want to bully me into installing a water cistern, which is THOUSANDS more dollars than what I need to spend.

My iron reduction filter is so clogged that my water pressure is nearly dribbling, I called to have it replaced (June26th), you informed me that someone would be over on Tuesday (July2nd), I called Tuesday morning and was informed that I was booked in at 3pm (July2nd). No one showed, and when I called today (July3rd) I was told that the maintenance person was sick and thats why they didn't come. You said you'd send someone today if I removed by BBB negative review, and I would need to pre-pay for the services in full before you'd come. Then you informed me that the parts would be $500 to change the iron reduction filter; a filter that you just changed a few months ago and it was only $50-60 ! I said that there is no way it's that expensive, and you said there was an inflation in cost due to supply issues and previous undercharging.

I called around and the iron reduction filters are no more than $60-75, and also NO shortage of supply, therefore confirming my suspicion that you're just trying to rip me off again.

Better Business Bureau, I, as well as many other individuals, are being bullied, conned, deceived, defrauded, overcharged, and swindled by this business. Please assist, as trying to amend this with the business is not working, as they only want to offer help by costing hundreds to thousands more dollars unnecessarily.

March 4, 2024 $4662.10 March 14, $149.10 March 13, $4662.10 The business installed a water conditioner in my home on March 6 2024. I agreed to this after a very long session with the salesperson who came into my home and stayed at least 5 hours on the evening of March 4. I am a 74 year old widow with a heart condition and when I agreed to buy the unit I was told that I could cancel within 30 days. On March 19 I noticed that I had been charged a total of $9473.30. (This is more than double the proce I was quoted). This was when I realized that I had might have been scammed. The bank was able to return my money to me and I immediately started to try to contact the company representative at the number that he left for me. When they returned my call I reminded them of the 30 days window I was promised for cancelation. As per their request I sent an email on March 29 to cancel and ask them to call me to schedule removal of the unit. My complaint is: I got a call from the company on April 2. On this call instead of scheduling the removal of the unit, they are claiming that I need to pay. They even threatened that they could repossess my home. My request is only that the unit be removed from my home and to confirm that I do not owe any money to this company. It is obvious they are trained to take advantage of me. The pressure I had to endure for 5 hours with no chamce to consult with my family was stressful. Then to realize that they would even try to take more money than I agreed has caused tremendous stress. I have no trust for this company and no desire to continue with their product.

******, thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We always provide all of the sales details in writing on the sales agreement and we do this so that all of our customers can clearly understand their obligations and the products and services they are receiving.  We always maintain full transparency and in this way we are truthful and honest with all of our customers.  On all of our sales agreements, in large font, it clearly states you have 10 days to cancel the agreement should you change your mind about the purchase.  As you stated and we have confirmed, we installed the water treatment equipment in you home on March 6th, 2024 and before our installers left you verbally indicated how happy you were with the installation.  We then attended your home 1 week later and provided you with your complimentary soap package. At that time you verbally mentioned again how happy you were with the water treatment equipment and the quality of the water in your home. The first contact that we received from you after the installation of your water treatment equipment was on March 19th, 2024 and at that time you informed us that the finance company had debited your bank account twice which was an error on their part. There was no mention during this phone call of you wanting to cancel the contract or that you wanted the water treatment equipment removed from your home. As we have informed you in previous conversations we do record all of our customer interaction phone calls and we have reviewed them thoroughly again not finding any mention of you wanting to cancel your sales agreement and wanting the water treatment equipment removed from your home.  It wasn't until March 26th, 2024 that you informed us that you wanted to have the water treatment equipment removed. You stated that you changed your mind after you spoke with your children and they convinced you that you should have the water treatment equipment removed. As I am sure you can see this is well past the sales cancellation period of 10 days and as such we are unable to remove the water treatment equipment and cancel the sales agreement. We spoke again in detail on April 2nd, 2024 and we explained all of this to you verbally as well. ******, we value you as a customer and we are confident that you will enjoy your investment in your water treatment equipment for many years to come. We are prepared to stand behind our lifetime warranty on your water treatment equipment and we are willing to offer you free service for 25 years as well.  This shows you are commitment to you and the products we sell and service.  We have thousands of satisfied customers across the province and we know that you will be more than happy with your purchase as our other customers have been. Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because their sales approach is designed to trap trusting people into doing business with them. The sales representative told me not to worry because I had a month. The discrepancy in the paperwork was not pointed out to me and it was late at night after 5 hours at my house.  The charges toward my account was double what I agreed and the transaction was taken from my account AFTER the 10 day mark, inerestingly enough. This makes it impossible to fully realize that things are off base within the 10 day hidden deadline.

The reason cancelation was emailed when it was is because first I had to deal with making sure my money was returned and to locate the correct email address for the formal cancelation.

I do not wish to do business with this company any further and I do not want the equipment. I cancelled  within the month as I was assured would be acceptable.  Also interesting is that I could never speak to the sales person ever again after the visit to my house.

I will not accept another email explaining how clever this company was in entrapping their client. I will only accept options to end the relationship and stop receiving harassing messages every day from their financial company.

    Thank you

2 guys came to my house to do a water test, I already know my water is bad. So after 5 hours we agreed on buying a reverse osmosis water system for drinking water and then a water conditioner system to take the iron and minerals etc. out of the rest of the water that comes through the house. At this time I was explained I have six months once it’s installed to be satisfied with the system, I explained to the gentleman you come back in five months. Retest my water to show me that it’s doing what it’s supposed to and then I have no problem purchasing this system. This system has been in my house for five months. I recently discovered behind the two tanks that was installed. My wall has sense become completely black and white with mould and fungus and has the Jip rock has separated from the studs I called them I believe five times in the last month to get them to resolve the situation or take the systems out of my house, they came out did a test said my pH level is OK. My iron level is OK that my water is just hard when I put water in my tub or my bathtub sink, washer, etc. it still stains my tub and my toilet etc. which was all stuff that it was explained it will not do , so on top of the system rotting my house out now I have to replace the two walls cause it’s in a corner and the floor underneath of it and the systems been only in my house for five months and it did this much damage it doesn’t do what it supposed to. It’s still leaving yellow staining in my sink, tub, toilet washing machine and leaf sludge and any water that I leave set that if I use it for the dogs or anything like that , I’ve tried to make resolution with them multiple times they said I signed a contract that after 10 days I am responsible for the equipment which I told him that that’s not what was discussed that I had six months to decide, their resolution for this situation, that I have to go buy a good dehumidifier and a fan and keep it running on there equipment to save damage.

I am rejecting this response because:
We are still currently working on it, this company wants me to buy more products from them spending $3500 to $5000 more to fix the issues. I am not into a situation where I can spend that much more money for their product to work with the product that I already bought. Have not heard anymore from them in days.
