I need your support with a concerning matter involving Dalhousie University. In 2020/2021, I was a newcomer student eagerly navigating the complexities of enrolling in universities. During that period, I was admitted to Dalhousie University among others. However, I made the decision to unenroll and drop all courses in favor of pursuing my education at a different institution. Unexpectedly, in August of this year, I began receiving peculiar phone calls from a collections agency asserting that I had an outstanding "account" with Dalhousie. Given the lack of information provided and the request for personal details, I initially dismissed these calls as potential scams, assuming any legitimate matter would be communicated through official channels. Concerned about the persistent calls, I decided to proactively contact Dalhousie University directly. To my surprise, I discovered an undisclosed outstanding balance, leading to my file being sent to a collections agency. Despite my proactive approach, the university claimed to have sent letters and emails to my "school account," an account I no longer accessed as I had withdrawn from all courses. After extensive communication, I reached an agreement with Dalhousie University to settle the outstanding balance of $2549.03 directly through them, with the confirmation that the collections agency case would be withdrawn. The attached email thread details this agreement. Regrettably, despite fulfilling my end of the agreement promptly, the university merely "closed" the account, leaving the adverse information on my public record. This oversight has had severe consequences, impacting my credit score and hindering essential aspects of my day-to-day life, such as attempting to switch to a more budget-friendly phone plan. I request assistance in removing the entry from my credit report and securing a refund. The university's failure to communicate and execute the resolution has caused financial strain and personal distress.
