September 6, 2023, I visited Bridgewater Mazda where I found a SUV I liked. Two other dealerships were allowing me $6000 on my Mazda 3, 2014, as a trade in, which I told ******, the sales rep. She spoke to ******, the manager and gave me a quote allowing me $6000 for my car. The monthly payment would be $350 for a 3 year lease on a 2023 Mazda 30. I told her I'd return with my husband. We returned and while ****** was filling the papers out, ****** came to her desk and said he would give us only $2500 for my car. My husband and I were speechless. Now our payments would be almost $600 monthly. We are in our 70's, on a fixed income and knew we couldn't afford this. My husband became stressed and short of breath. ****** continued talking, giving us his sales pitch and got the payments down to $480 monthly. We agreed to this. My husband wanted to go home to take his oxygen so he went out to the car. I said we would return another day. ****** said I had to pay the down payment of $1000 and first month's payment of $480 and sign a paper before I left. I admit I didn't read it before I signed. I was stressed and anxious to take my husband home. My bank card would give me only $600, so ****** said I could pay the rest when we returned. He would also need my husband's signature on the paper. Later, my husband and I discussed our experience. We felt we were being exploited because of our ages. I phoned ****** the next day and told him we didn't want the car. We felt $2500 was to low. He said I signed the paper, so we had to take the car. I reminded him that my husband had not signed the paper. I asked him to refund my $600, but ****** said the paper I signed showed this was non-refundable. I said that he needed my husband's signature, but he said I signed it and that was good enough for him. We did not take the car. I phoned ****** twice and he refused to take my calls. This says a lot for his moral compass.

We leased a 2024 Subaru and were allowed $6000 for a trade in.

***** and ***** visited our dealership twice and were never forced to do anything and no "sales pitch" was given.....we have little to no inventory. ****** is unable to give a customer a payment without a managers involvement so this original payment of 350 never happened. I was involved in the trade and we started at 2500 but negotiated to 3000 making their payment 402.92 from 419.82 to which they agreed and a non refundable deposit was given as stated cars are difficult to get currently. Both ***** and ***** left here joking and laughing and excited to pick up their new car. As for a payment of 600....those numbers do not add up unless we went up to another model and trim level. I have taken her calls only to be harassed about her non refundable deposit and threats of contacting anyone that will listen. The manufacture contacted me after contact with her but saw nothing wrong with the transaction. They purchased a car from us and continued to shop and then wanted to cancel a deal after we already prepped the car for delivery and incurred costs and lost opportunity.

      Thank you

I am rejecting this response because: To begin, my husband visited the dealership once. I was there twice. My initial visit was with ******, without my husband. I asked her for a quote so that I could inform my husband and we could discuss it. When I informed ****** that 2 other dealerships had offered me $6000 for my Mazda, she left her desk and went into ******'s office. She came back to me and gave me a quote of $350 monthly, using $6000 for my trade-in. ****** is lying, this did happen. I was pleased with this quote and told ****** I would be back with my husband. I discussed this quote that ******, along with the other two quotes from the other dealerships, with my husband and we decided on the Mazda30. We went to Bridgewater Mazda and met with ******. It was while she was filling the papers out that ****** approached her desk and said he could only give us $2500. We were shocked as this was a complete surprise.  We did not leave the dealership laughing. My husband had left before me, he was not feeling well, ****** knew this. Another lie. I phoned ****** the next day to inform him that we were cancelling the new car because of the amount of money he was allowing us for my trade-in. He tried to force me to take the car, but I reminded him he required my husband's signature which he never gave and would not. When asked to refund my $600, ****** said it was non-refundable and that my signature was enough. This is not right. I phoned him the next day to remind him that he needs both signatures.  He still refused. I phoned him twice after that and he refused my calls. I did not harass him. What kind of manager is this that is in a position of trust?  I am certain that if he did this to me, he will do it to others. He is not trustworthy. The one thing I am pleased about this whole experience is that ****** got $600 from me and not the $1400 he wanted.

The deposit is $1000 not $2000 and since their credit card was unable to do $1000 I accepted $600. Why did Mrs ********* give a deposit that was clearly stated as a non refundable payment if she wasn't happy with the terms? As I indicated before cars are very scarce right now and we don't need to "force" anyone to purchase something but when you agree to a purchase and we prep the car for the customer and its removed from the sales line we expect that it is to be sold and we do not sell it to someone else. We weren't overcharging as some dealers have been and have been transparent with pricing, terms, interest rates, available programs (owner renewal 1% rate reduction) and trade. If another dealer wants to offer you more that is their decision but we valued their car in the condition it was in and they accepted. Best Wishes *****
