    On June 12th we agreed an amount of $14100 to complete a porch bump out renovation, based on a set of drawings given to the contractor. We paid the $6000 deposit. A week later we paid the 2nd instalment of $4050 plus and extra $1050 for extra screw piles at the rear of the house. Plus an extra $500 for a tree stump they removed. They then didn’t return for over 3 weeks to start any work on the front entrance. After finally completing the work in September they had not insulated the floor that was built apart from laying a piece of rigid insulation on the ground. They then asked for extra money on top of the last payment of $4050 for work they say was extra. Eg brick removal. Even though this was clearly explained was part of the job in the beginning. Their contract clearly states that any changes or extra charges that deviate from the specs of the quote should be a written contract change or verbal agreement by both parties.
    All I’m asking is they insulate the floor to minimum building standards as planned and I pay them the final payment as agreed in the contract.
    I had a quote from maritime since the work was done, that would be $1500 to complete this work.
    I have had two other contractors state that this should have been done during construction.
