    Our household has been a customer of Breton Petroleum for slightly over 2 years, and several people in our family have used them as a heating oil provider for far longer.
    We've never had a bad experience. Our oil delivery has always been timely to the point I've never had to question the amount in our tank. The interactions we've had with the staff have always been highly positive - they've responded quickly and have consistently gone above and beyond.
    I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone in the region looking for a heating oil supplier.

    My husband & I are very disappointed in this company. We recently moved to Cape Breton from Ontario and put our boat & 1970 ********* truck in storage (temporarily) as we set up our property. Long story short:
    - they increased their prices without notifying us;
    - they submitted our final invoice without contacting us to discuss it, after assuring us they would. When we called and questioned the charges the secretary hung up on my husband; and
    - in early December they agreed to reimburse us $500…nothing yet after asking several times.
    This business needs some lessons on how to treat customers.

    In Oct of 2022 Mr ******* chose to store several items in the self storage building. In September of 2023 the rate to store items changed. Mr ******* attended our site on a regular basis and spoke with the President of the company for extended amounts of time each visit. The storage facility is heated, has fire suppression, is electronically monitored and is checked by an actual human daily.
    The President offered a $500. refund on the **** on file, because Mr ******* erroneously stated this was the amount he was overcharged. The refund was processed on January 23, 2023. Mr ****** stated he would be removing his vehicle at the end of November 2023. In spite of his assertion that the items were leaving he did not take his property back until January 18, 2024. The truck would not start and Mr ******* had asked to have staff from Breton Petroleum assist him in pushing the vehicle out of the storage facility. Because of the way the vehicles were stored Breton Employees were required to move other vehicles to Allow Mr ******* access to his property. The normal procedure is to store vehicles for the winter season and it is unusual to accomodate a request to remove property midway through the season.
    Each time he said he was coming Breton Petroleum made appropriate staff available to assist him. Mr Devereaux repeatedly failed to keep the appointments he had made.
    Breton Petroleum did not bill him for the extra two months storage, which has a value of $345.00. In addition the car leaked gasoline on the floor which Breton Petroleum paid to have cleaned. The customer was not billed for this service. The $500 credit plus the $345.00 in free storage more than offset the $172.50 increase in storage fees. Mr ****** was only ever served by the President and the Manager and never made a complaint until we were notified by the BBB of a complaint.
