My son is currently enrolled in 2 courses at the school. I am his mother and have paid in full for those 2 courses. I am representing him due to his physical and academic challenges. The actions of virtual high school have caused a desire to discontinue enrollment at the school and receive a full refund. Details about the situation have been sent to the principal’s office but no response has been received thus far. I can only assume my son will not receive credit on his student records should he complete the courses he is currently enrolled in.

    Our guidance and
academic teams have been corresponding with Ms. ********** regarding her son,
******, and his courses at Virtual High School. Our Principal recently followed
up, on May 9, to respond to the emails sent. There is another school involved with
******’s education and part of the problem lies outside our control. We are
awaiting a document to be sent to us from ******.

However, on 4 May 2003, Erin
in our Guidance Department offered to ****** extended access to his courses at
no additional cost, so that he can finish his courses.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The reason for this complaint was to ask for refunds for both courses my son is currently enrolled in. This is due to new understanding regarding the location of the OSR and failure to implement or even request a copy of an IEP. These comments from the school indicate that my son was in attendance in 2003 which he was not. These comments include the role of the previous school to which he recently received permission to return. ** ******** ** **** **** **** ********* ** ***** ********** *** ******** ****** ******* **** *** *** **** ** **** **********

The student’s OSR is in another school. Either the
student, or the student and his mother, or the mother will not agree for some
reason to have this other school transfer the OSR to VHS. Subsequently, VHS is
forced to send his report cards back to this other school for inclusion into
the OSSD as per Ministry of Education regulations. The other school, from what
I can gather, is refusing to handle anything for this student, and wishes to
transfer the OSR to either, us, (but the mother and/or student will not agree),
or back to the Ministry of Education (which can only accept OSRs if the school
housing it, closes). Thus, we have a stalemate. The action needed is totally
out of the hands of our school but residing in the hands of the family. The
family is now requesting a refund from us but we have provided everything we
were contracted to supply, including offering to waive the fees to extend the
time for him to complete his course(s). We do not offer refunds, especially in
this case where the student has either been in the course for an extended
period of time and/or has completed portion of the course.
