  We hired ***** Annables firm in the summer of 2022 to draft plans for a remodel of our cottage. He estimated a fee of $2,143.84, which we paid. At the June 28, 2022 site visit, we requested plans for (1) a redesign of our second-storey master bedroom window; (2) a redesign of our second-storey guest bedroom windows; and (3) an outbuilding with a porch facing our lake. We also accepted *****'s suggestion for a remodel of our laundry room. He took copious notes.On July 26, 2022, ***** sent us plans that were virtually unrecognizable: (1) An extensive new roof system for our cottage that had not been requested or discussed; and (2) an outbuilding that was the wrong shape, with the porch facing away from the lake. Neither of the second storey window systems, nor the laundry room remodel, were included.After we pointed this out, ***** sent new plans on August 16, 2022. These included a new cottage porch, something never discussed or requested. The second storey windows were configured very differently from what we had discussed. The outbuilding was unchanged. I called ***** in April 2023 to express our unhappiness. He told me that he had given his notes on our project to his son, a junior draftsman employed in his firm, who had ignored them in creating our plans. When ***** asked him to fix this, he had again ignored the notes in generating the revised set of plans. ***** had fired him. ***** agreed to get the project back on track. On June 20, 2023, he terminated the engagement, conceding that the initial attempts from our office failed you." He said he would keep half his fee $1,143.84 for his time, expenses and completed the site visit and measurements. We replied on June 26, 2023 that he had earned no fee, because his firm had never delivered the designs we requested. He refused. This is not the way a reputable professional does business. We can only conclude that ***** is not reputable, and we would not recommend him to others.

  We were placed in a tough position with staffing issues that resulted in firing of said staff and the project being placed on hold for almost 8 months. We wanted to work with the client but with the delay between start and finish we did not have the capacity to. Complete the task, which we were open about. So we offered a refund to release the project so the client may find someone who would be able to meet their needs. We felt this was best but some clients do not take well to being let go. We tried and are saddened this has escalated to this type of response. After 24 years in business and thousands of satisfied clients. This is our first review with negative comments. We wish the Wood Family best of luck completing their renovation.
