WCI Paving & Concrete widened a portion of our existing gravel driveway and then paved it all in July 2024. In preparation for their paving job, *** added gravel to widen our driveway the same day they poured the asphalt. *** poured asphalt over the sprinkler head, despite it having a flag on it. Once the paving was done, we noted that they had paved over the sprinkler head, so *** dug out the fresh asphalt to expose the sprinkler head and move it further out from the driveway and then replaced the asphalt. We followed WCIs recommendations to not park our cars in the driveway for a total of 8 weeks to support the curing process. In late September, we noticed a crack (1/8 ~ 3/8" wide) appear in the asphalt, about 9-10' long, roughly 3" to 7.5" away from the edge of the asphalt where the culvert was extended, which appears to also originate from the side of the driveway where WCI dug out the fresh asphalt to move the sprinkler head. We contacted *** via email, provided pictures of the crack, and asked them to repair the crack, as the paving work was warrantied for one year for an existing driveway. ***'s response to our emails was that the crack was our fault, as we must have had a vehicle drive too close to the edge of the driveway. *** also alleges that this was a normal hairline crack but that we could have WCI seal it the following year. They also said that they'd have someone come inspect the crack later in Fall 2024, but no one ever came. We recently reached out to *** twice in May via email with additional pictures of the crack, noting that with the winter, the crack has widened and is now longer, but received no response from ***. We think that the crack resulted from *** digging up the asphalt on the side of the driveway where they had to move the sprinkler head as well as not sufficiently compacting the new gravel base where they widened the driveway. We would be grateful for BBB's help on this. Thank you!
