I got a call from the Canadian Kennel Club alleging about updating information on some dog I’ve never owned. I decided to check into the matter and called back the next day. The lady I talked about had never heard of me and this dog that was allegedly owned by me. I told them I never owned a dog and to stop calling me as well as to take my information name number out of their system. They called me back within 5 minutes which was one against my wishes as well as against the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. I told them not to call me again to take my name address out of the system. ***** ********** ** ** *** *********** *** ************. The company sold my information and I’ve never dealt with them or any of their associates business. I would like to see about pursuing legal action but probably won’t. This business will be held accountable!

    To whom it may concern:

December 14th was the first time we received something from the BBB.  Unfortunately, the individual has not provided adequately detail such as whom called him from the CKC, date of call and any other pertinent information so that we can verify through our telephony system and records accordingly. With additional information, we can have our Director of Operations look into the mater further. Please note as a not-for-profit organization we do not sell members' information and it has been confirmed within our system, **** ***** is not a member of the CKC.  This person is however listed as an owner of a purebred dog that is registered with The Canadian Kennel Club and as the national registry of purebred dog, we deal with litter registrations, breeders and owners based on the applications submitted to our organization.

I am rejecting this response because:

I don’t care what their records show. I have never owned a dog ever. I am allergic to dogs. I have no idea were they got their information from. Obviously someone somewhere used my name and information illegally. I want my name and any all information about me saying I allegedly own a dog out of their system. Also when I told them not to call me back they did. Legal action will be taken against them if my name and information isn’t taken out of their system.

Upon further review, CKC was contacted as a dog was in a rescue. The rescue shelter has someone that is interested in adopting the dog.  As there is a microchip, the rescue contacted CKC to determine the owner etc. In reviewing the registration papers on file, **** ** *** is listed as the current owner of the dog, hence the telephone call to the number on file. The CKC was merely doing their due diligence in attempting to locate the owner of the dog before the rescue shelter allowed any adoption thereof.  CKC is not responsible for the name or telephone number listed on the registration papers as it was filed by the breeder.  As the individual contacting the BBB is irate he was contacted about the ownership of the dog, CKC has to follow protocol under the Ministry of Agriculture Canada (as per policy) and now contact the breeder (owner at birth) to have them sign off.  Normally, it would be the current owner who would do so and in this case **** ** *** shows as the current owner.  Once the breeder-owner at birth signs off, **** ** ***'s name will no longer show as an active owner of the dog and will not be contacted. Our Operations team is aware of the situation as a whole and will not tolerate any abusive language or behaviour from a CKC member, breeder, owner or the public. The team is simply trying to relocate the dog based on proper procedure and protocol and does not intend to upset or offend anyone as a result.

I am rejecting this response because:

Upon further review, this **** ***** has never owned a dog and or had a dog was in a rescue. I have no concern nor care about someone that is interested in adopting the dog or any dog for that matter.  As for the microchip, and or the rescue agency contacting CKC to determine the owner etc I don’t care as I have never owned a dog. You said In reviewing the registration papers on file, **** ***** is listed as the current owner of the dog, hence the telephone call to the number on file. I have never owned any dogs and obviously my information is being used fraudulently. C kc was not merely doing their due diligence in attempting to locate the owner of the dog before the rescue shelter allowed any adoption thereof. I told  CKC that the dog was not mine and not to call again which they did. You say that me contacting the BBB is irate he was contacted about the ownership of the dog. I am as I have mentioned numerous times I have never owned a dog, obviously my information is being used illegally and on top of that I did receive a second phone call from C kc when I told them not to call again. I have to follow protocol under the The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada Ministry (as per policy) and contact the police to look into the matter. I am not the current owner nor ever have been the of any dogs and nor do I have to sign off on any illegal activities.  The breeder-owner should not have any of my information and I should never ever be contacted by them nor C kc ever. The proper authorities are aware of the situation as a whole and will not tolerate any abusive language or behaviour from a CKC member, affiliate or breeder. This individual is using all my legal recourses against identify theft and doesn’t care wether your upset or offended as a result as I have every legal right to protect my identity and have privacy.

Once again, the matter to resolve is clear on CKC's end and was previously stated.  To reiterate, CKC's first attempt was to contact the owner listed.  **** ***** is the owner listed on the paperwork. As Mr. ***** is adamant that he is not the owner,  CKC is attempting to contact the breeder, who is the owner at birth.  Once CKC receives the sign-off, **** ***** will no longer show as an active owner of the dog. Should the authorities investigate fraud with respect to the breeder, we would be happy to comply with any requested information.

I am rejecting this response because:

The matter is not resolved at all. Your saying that once CKC receives the sign-off, **** ***** will no longer show as an active owner of the dog. I have never been an owner of any dog  I am not the active owner of this dog. Your implying that your keeping my information till you find whoever owns this dog. This is 100 percent violation of my privacy as I have repeatedly told you I don’t own, nor have ever owned this dog. If you never find this dog you’ll still have my information in your system which is like I said 100 percent violation of my privacy.  I will not drop this matter till you agree to get rid of my information from your system. It’s not my fault nor responsibility that you have fraudulent information and I will continue to fight for my rights .

    From protecting his rights,
