Received a letter stating I owed $ to **** ** ********. I called & was told I hadn't properly closed a bank account in 2009. They asked if I lived in a city I've only been to twice - never lived there. Supposedly they just purchased the account & are trying to collect a 14 year old debt for an account they can't verify was mine.

They sent me a letter saying I owe almost 60 thousand for a ** account I've never even had. How would I have even got a mortgage 6 months ago if this were true?

Re: Veritas Alliance Incorporated; These people are delusional. They've gone back many decades and calculated compound interest. **** ** ***** *** ** ** *******. **** *** ******** ***** **** *******. If they were serious, they would prosecute debt from British Columbia, but they can't. In BC the statute of limitations for debt is TWO years. They are wasting postage.
I am 73 and not employed.
I will place their letter in the circular file (waste paper basket).

Won’t stop calling me. They are asking for someone at my phone number that I don’t know and doesn’t even exist. They have called everyday for 5 years. This is abuse and not ok. I have asked them to stop at least 50 times.

I keep getting series of calls every 6 months or so for whoever used to have this phone number (it’s been years) even though I have asked before to be removed.
I am on another series now. I finally decide to wait on hold to tell them to remove me. I finally get a hold of someone and tell them to remove me and they hang up on me without a word! So here I am on hold again.
If you have a system that says press 2 if you are not this person, that should be enough! Delete me, (AND PERMANENTLY PLEASE) don’t make me wait just to be hung up on! There should be an online form somewhere to do this so you can free up your agents time and stop bothering us!

******** ****** ** **** ***** Unfortunately my girlfriend fell into hard times years ago and owed money to a credit card company. Veritas took over the debt and hassled her everyday. they finally both agreed on a settlement. She went to pay the money on the day it was owed and they asked for a cash transfer from the bank, the bank manager advised not to to it, so she made out a certified check for the proper amount. Veritas said it was now going to be an extra $**. The bank manager suggested not to pay the extra but just to get them off her back she paid it in a cash transfer. Veritas promised the letter closing the account would be sent out immediately. Its been over 3 week and no letter, and no receipt. I called today to only ask if they had sent the letter/receipt, because she is freaked/stressed out about the $*****. I know all about the privacy act, I just wanted to know if they sent the letter, if not would they please do so asap so she can go on with her life. He wouldn't let me know anything and the man actually hung up on me **** * *********** ****** ****** ***** ******* *** ********** *** ***** ******** * ****** ******* *** ** *** *** ***** ****** ** ****** **** **** **** ** ****** **** **** *** ** *** ** *** *** ***** * ********* *********

My husband got a letter and many calls from Veritas stating that he owes an outstanding bill from over 6 years ago!. My husband told the guy on the phone that the statute of limitations has passed, why are they calling him now about such an old bill?. The agent said he still has to pay even though it’s been many years!. The credit card debt they are referring to was erased from my ******* file many years ago, so why is Veritas calling us now about this?? Very suspicious! We are not making a patinent until we get more answers, **** ****** **** * *****
