I contacted Edwards Fuel to convert my 2 fireplaces from propane to natural gas. I already had the conversion kits from manufacturer. The sales guy showed up and provided me a quote to connect our meter to our existing gas piping, convert the appliances and work with the gas company to have the gas turned on. In addition they would install a line to my detached garage, approximately 20 feet away. They provided me with a quote of $1500 to complete all this work. I agreed I wanted to proceed, but as per their policy, I need to open an account that would require a me to complete a credit check. I do not favour unnecessary credit checks, so I agreed to pay the quoted value up front. I called the sales guy 5 days before the schedule work to let him know the locates were not done, and I was worried this would interfere with the trenching to the garage. He assured me, he would get this straightened out. The big day came, and the three Edwards fuel techs showed up. - 1 first guy drilled a hole 12 feet form the meter and left to get material and never returned. - I explained to the remaining 2 techs, the gas pipe can not run along the exterior front of our house but needed to run inside with the existing gas piping in the suspended basement ceiling. everything is easily accessible, no need to run across the front of the house. - the 3rd tech converted the two appliances and was on his way by 10am, he said" my work is complete" - the third gent installed a couple of elbows and routed the gasoline into the house, then he waited for the gas company to arrive. At lunch time the trenching company showed up, and let me know, the trenching could not be done as the locates were not complete. (They showed me the locates were ordered for the wrong municpality) - I was billed a total of 19 hours of labour for this? and they only converted the appliances, the estimated work was never completed, and now they want $400 more?? what recourse do I have? would not recommend
