***** ******* This experience is with who I presumed was a technician who turned out to be a salesman. I called to have my ducts cleaned and then to have a free inspection of my home for air quality. The "technician" did not do an inspection but asked about my furnace, age etc. He came to the conclusion that it would be best to replace my furnace as soon as possible because of age, 16 years, to avoid a breakdown (which admittedly is possible). Then we could start talking about air quality. He started quoting me these exorbitant prices for furnaces (no A/C included), anywhere from $12,000 to $15,000 stating furnace prices have gone way up. He kept calling back for a few weeks before the scheduled duct cleaning even when I told him I am going to hold off purchasing one for now since we have an ******** maintenance/repair plan and don't want to go into debt. His offer was a "deal" of around $11,800 for a $15,000 furnace. I finally cancelled the duct cleaning out of frustration and investigated furnace prices. The price of a furnace for my home came to about $5000 to $6000! I thought calling a local company that has been established here for a long time **** **** ******** ******* would be a good idea. Rather, it turned out that the salesman was likely a ***** character *** *** ****** ** **** ********* ** * ****** ** ***** ***** who he thought probably would not investigate what he was up to. ********** conduct and I will never use Boonstra to install a furnace in this house. * ****** ****** ** ******** *** ******** ***** ****** ****** ******* ***** ***** ********** The response by management on ****** reviews of "they couldn't find me in their system" is obviously a *********** to deflect the seriousness of this negative review. ** ** ********* ** **** **** *** **** **** ***** ********* *** **** *** ******** ************ * ******** ****** *** ********.Boonstra Heating & Air Conditioning

3 stars** ****** ****** * ********* **** ********* ****** ** ***** ******** ***** ****** ******* I called Boonstra HVAC and asked if they worked on my model and they indicated they did. A technician (Jimmy) came the next day and opened up the unit, blew water out of a tube and disconnected and reconnected various wires. The unit started up and he left costing me $160 plus GST for $190.97. It worked for the next 5 days then failed again (same error code C7). Boonstra sent technician Nathan and he cleaned the igniter and got it running. He thought the igniter may need replacing, and gave me a quote of $586 (plus GST). This appeared expensive so I researched the cost of a ***** igniter authorized part # 8 701 302 249 0 and found the part was under $100. The unit worked fine for the next 8 days until failure (now EA code). I called Boonstra again and asked for Nathan. He determined the gas valve had failed but would need to call me back with a cost. I was called back (Theresa) and was told the valve was not available and they would send out a sales person to quote me on a new replacement unit. I once again found a ***** authorized gas valve (part # 8 707 021 019 0) for just under $300 so I phoned Boonstra to ask for installation. I was told they would not install a client purchased item, so I gave them the supplier details and asked them to purchase. They declined again. At this point it was obvious Boonstra was only interested in upselling me a new tankless water heater. I documented all of this and sent an Email to Boonstra and was called by Louis who indicated that ***** was difficult to get parts and to rectify Boostra would refund the service costs of $190.97 since they could not actually fully service my water heater (not ***** authorized). I am now satisfied that Boonstra did the right thing after the details of this issue was brought forward to their attention. Post note: The other ***** authorized dealer/repair was able to get the part and repair my heater.Review fromCarolyn F

1 star******* ** We called Boonstra at the end of March to have them instal a new propane furnace. They instead installed the wrong type of furnace - a natural gas furnace - which did not provide sufficient heat and also exhausted unburned propane gas. This furnace had to be turned off, leaving us without heat from the end of March until April 10th when a replacement propane furnace was finally installed. During those ten freezing days that Boonstra left us without heat, no one from Boonstra called to let us know when the correct furnace would be installed and when our heat might be turned on again. We were not treated like valued customers; they took our money, installed the wrong furnace, and left us freezing for ten days. We found out who to contact at Boonstra to register a complaint, and we wrote to them to complain about Boonstra's lack of customer service, first by leaving us without heat for ten days, and then by having no one from Boonstra call us to keep us undated about when our heat might be available again. To date (May, 2023) we have had no acknowledgement from Boonstra that they received our letter of complaint, nor have we had any response to that letter. We have been completely ignored by Boonstra. In short, we feel they treat their customers badly and that their customer service is abysmal. ***** **** ********Review fromDiane D

1 starI wish I could say something positive but my experience has been far from it. The initial technician arrived, did some assessing and said that we needed a new part for the furnace; the furnace is only 6 -8 years old. He said that we might have to wait a week for the part to come in. After more than a week, we called to ask what the issue was as it was very cold and our furnace was completely off. Many hours later we had a call and the lady left a voicemail that they would look into it. Three and a half weeks later, after many calls and never being able to speak to anyone, we called another company. They arrived the following day and after a half hour the furnace was fixed and running. Can you believe that Boonstra called after 4 weeks to say the part was in??? My husband and I are 75+years old and it was very cold during the waiting period. My biggest disappointment was the fact that they never once took the initiative to connect with us to reassure us of the status of the part or to just plain connect in any manner as part of a company that wishes to keep its clients. Well.....you guessed it. Never again. We will make sure family, friends and neighbours are aware of such shoddy service. It all could have been avoided by a courtesy call but I guess they do not need our business. ***** **
