I got some coupons for a little indian/pizza place that opened just down the street from me. I took in the one for a buy one poutine get one free and ordered six samosas as well.
First the guy says they cant accept it because its not their coupon so i showed him the flier it came from clearly showing the name of the place and their address and the identical fliers sitting on his counter.
Second. The samosas are listed on their large menu at $1.25 each, but the guy points to a small paper saying they are 3/5. I tell him repeatedly the price listed in very plain sight in large letters RIGHT THERE is $1.25, so thats what i'm paying, so he goes back and has a talk with the manager and he says fine so he pretends to put them in at that price.
Third, he tells me the total is $26.50. The actual cost for the 2 poutines with the coupon was $9.99 ( i got a chicken swarma poutine and a regular one) and 6 samosas at $1.25 is $7.50. The 13%tax on $17 brings it to $19.20. charging $26.50 for a $17.50 order literally means he was illegally charging 56% tax on my order.
fourth, it took them 45 minutes even though I was the only customer for almost half an hour. even if they had to make Fresh cut fries, it usually takes only about 10 minutes to 15 minutes to make in most places and I could see the stuff for their various poutine toppings sitting in the area behind the counter. They already had a lot of samosas already made up . for both types of poutine, they take the fries, give a scoop or two of the toppings and close the lid. Why would it take 45 minutes when they were not busy with other orders?
Even if it wasnt for their trying to rip people off by charging 56% tax which is highly illegal, or their super slow service, the samosas i got were extremely hard and the poutines were cold. How do you mess up a poutine. its fries with gravy and cheese. I wont be ordering food from there any more.
