We paid FTR *** $6500 toward building a gazebo and doing repairs at our home. After months of excuses and delays it was clear they had no intention of doing the work so we asked for our deposit back. The owner finally agreed to pay us back on April 11, 2024. Then the excuses started again as to why he wouldnt give us our deposit back. After complaints to the ***, Consumer Protections Ontario and my emailing him weekly he did end up paying us back $6050 in small sporadic instalments over the following 9 months. To date he still owes us $450 and has only given us $50 in the last 2 months. Hes had our money interest free for months and has been throwing us a few dollars here and there as he says to show hes attempting to pay us back. His excuse to everyone is that he has no money (and offers to show you his bank balance to prove it). How can he run a business with no money? His business card says hes BBB accredited (which hes not) and as recently as October was still telling people on ******** he was. All we want is the remaining $450 returned to us.
