After housing our 150k deposit in their business for a year before starting our custom home, the builder started 6 months late and the build took 6 months longer than they specified. Five months after starting the building they claimed they had lost our contract and told us we would need to sign a new augmented contract or the build would be paused as winter approached. The changes to the contract cost us 10s of thousands of dollars immediately along with other downgrades. We were also made to pay over 50% of the instalments well in advance of when the contract required us to do so based on how much of the home was completed via appraisal. There were a large number of quality of work and personnel issues from start to finish, our new neighbour wrote multiple letters to the company and the city regarding how their job site was handled. Major cracking in the slab concrete - water left through the winter in the infloor heating pex tubing which eventually burst were some of the more serious issues. We were eventually put into a position where we had to move our 3 young children into a building that seemed 75% complete based on timelines confirmed with the builder 7 weeks in advance. Chemicals left out - power tools left plugged in to name a few careless and dangerous issues we needed to navigate. The tarion 30 day form had over 80 items on it and the year end form had dozens more ranging from cosmetic to things missing to significant issues. We have lived in the house for ********************************************* need of attention, all well communicated in real time. After we declined to give them free marketing in exchange for service to rectify all outstanding issues that we already paid for they have simply ghosted us. Tarion is involved and we are now embroiled in their painfully long process to ensure we resolve the workmanship and material issues but that neglects the soft cost and hours invested through this ordeal.
