I purchased a truck that needed a new transmission and came to a price agreement of $4,000 for one to be installed. An incident happened where the transmission was dropped and broken and we agreed to have a new one sourced and installed. Then, I was informed that they had to make a corporate decision to fix and install the broken transmission and they did not run this by me first so I did not give permission for this to be done. I took my truck but immediately noticed something was off and I had the truck inspected by a mechanic who confirmed there were transmission issues. I took the truck back to Midas and they agreed to find another transmission yet it has been two weeks, the store has been unresponsive and all they can tell me is to wait while they look for a new transmission. I believe I am being given the run around and I need something done about this situation.

Car wouldn't go in gear. Repaired and doing same. Asked them to repair and they said there is nothing they can do.

When the vehicle was brought in we were unable to duplicate the customer's concern and therefore didn't know what parts were required to repair it. To avoid the customer spending unnecessary money and our technicians guessing what part(s) to replace, we advised him to return when the issue was more consistent and we would diagnose it then. He is bringing the vehicle back in next week and we will get it repaired to his satisfaction.

Stored my summer tires and rims. They did not provide a reciept and now claim they can't find them. Even though they called me a month after dropping them off for storage asking what my plan was for them. They also now claim they changed their camera system and can no longer look back that far. They also did not complete tire rotations on two previous visits and said they did. When proven they did not they offered free oil change.

We needed an oil change yesterday because we are travelling today & tomorrow. We dropped the vehicle at Midas who agreed to squeeze us in.I think we are reasonably intelligent people, or did until we had this experience. We really do not know anything about vehicles. The vehicle in question we have had 6 months. It is a 2018 we bought from a reputable dealer in town.Midas called and said we needed some things fixed urgently and sent the report with the 'Immediate Action' items noted. We asked how much things would cost. The guy gave prices, none of which were over $100. We expected to pay a few hundred dollars maximum for the new pads, filters etc.Imagine our surprise when we went to pick up the vehicle and were presented with a bill for $2400!!!We were speechless. We did not have 2400 for an oil change!!! We had no idea how we had misunderstood what he was quoting us?We did approve the work. The guy was smirking like he knew he had tricked us. We have looked at the invoice and still have no idea what we were quoted - we heard 19, 26 etc nothing in the THOUSANDS.They would not give us our vehicle til we had paid in full. We had to sign up for a LOAN (interest free luckily) - we went in there expecting to spend a few hundred, and came out with a one year loan for 2400.I still feel sick about it. This is a vehicle we have had less than 6 months, and if we WANTED to have actual work done we would have done it at our dealer. AND they also refused to check our extended warranty before doing the work. The only thing we can think of is he said 14 pause 74 and we assumed it was 14 dollars not ONE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED...?

The customer came in for an oil change (it was not *****, but her partner - all communication was with him), and we did our complimentary digital vehicle inspection with pictures (see attached photos) and explanations of the vehicles condition. When the customer called the shop after receiving the digital inspection, he inquired about what needed attention. The advisor explained what the technician had found and clearly stated the costs associated with each repair. After the explanation and the pricing (he was provided with a breakdown of each part with the associated labour as well as the final total with taxes), the customer gave authorization to proceed with the repairs. There was no pressure to have those repairs completed that day, and if he would have declined, none of the work would have been done. We always require full payment before releasing a vehicle, but we were able to facilitate a payment plan - if the customer didnt have the funds to have the repairs done, he could have declined the work being done.

I am rejecting this response because we did NOT give them authorisation to do a vehicle inspection. They used pressure and scare tactics to get us to agree to the work. They did not provide a WRITTEN ESTIMATE which is required BY LAW. They did not say the prices for the repairs clearly at all. We simply would not have agreed to anything other than minor items (filters etc) - we get ALL of our work done at our dealer, not at Midas! We did not receive the parts back they replaced which is what happens at the dealers. This car has been in our possession for SIX MONTHS - there is no way the car would have passed the safety if it had these major issues. Midas also did not contact our warranty holder despite our requesting this. We have posted about our experience on social media and found there is a pattern to this scam - basically they trick people into having MAJOR WORK done when they are only leaving the car for an oil change. They did this to an 80 year old woman recently as well. It's common sense, we would not have agreed to this work had we understood the cost. Therefore it should be clear that MIDAS did not communicate the costs to us clearly. They certainly did not offer to provide the costs in writing, which they are obligated to by law (which has also been reported). I cannot believe they are not even apologizing for this terrible customer **********************. I don't care to hear from them again, I want their BBB rating to be lowered. I will continue sharing my horrible experience with Midas and gathering testimony from others. I have also submitted this file to *** Marketplace so hopefully they will do a full expose on this sketchy business. MIDAS should be ashamed of themselves!!

    Sincerely,

    ***************************

Bought new tires. Winter tires were not placed in vehicle. Left without tires. Called. They said they would hold them. I live far from there and forgot about it. Then first they said they shipped them un tagged to storage (lost) then said they were stolen from shop never leaving or going to storage. Offered me 2 free 2 at cost. I did not lose my tires. I know where they were.
