I was placed into long term care in April 2020. I have not had any correspondence with or from my bank, YNCU, until my son notified me about the letter he had received or the Notification of Investment renewal. I have this amount in a TFSA. I wanted to take some of this money out for my son. YNCU sent my son the Notification of Investment renewal and did not contact me. They don't even have my POA for my son to do dealings on my behalf yet they sent my notice to him. He didn't even know I had that money. He didn't even know what it was at first and dismissed it until he told me about it. It was too late. They gaslighted my son and fed him a convoluted spiel whilst he tried to figure out what this TFSA's stipulations were till it was too late. I cannot drive, and YNCU told myself and my son that we needed to go to Woodstock branch to settle the Notification of Investment, to then decide weather to contribute to it or withdrawn from it. All the time not knowing that after the 10th of September it would be locked for another year. I am NOT able to drive. I can't get to Woodstock. ** *** *** ***** ** **** ** *** ** *** *** ****** ** *** *** ******* *** ****** **** ** **** ** ** **** ** ** ***** ******* ******* ******* **** ** ********* ******* All this time I never knew that by not getting to Woodstock before September 10 that I would be locked out of my TFSA for another year. This is unconscionable *** *********. I called them and they told me that I was locked out of the TFSA because I didn't get there by the 10th. Then, they told me that I didn't need to go to Woodstock but I could have just went to my London branch 5 minutes away. When I tried to set up a new appointment they told me the TFSA is locked. My son has POA and executor for all my dealings. When my son tried to tell them that this is wrong, they hung up on him. * ** ** *** *** ***** ** ****** *** **** ***** **** ***** **** ********* *********** ****** I want that money. In a nut shell. I wasn't given this Notice. It never was in my hands first. I could have dealt with this if I had received it on time. I don't know how they got his address and why they sent it to him or figured my son was able to exercise any action with this info when YNCU don't even know he is my POA or let him do anything without giving YNCU the POA forms. Any time my son has tried to speak on my behalf or assist me with a phone to call them or helping me see documents they ****** him about giving them his POA papers. It's irrelevant as I am still sound of mine so I don't need my son to get to my TFSA. **** ** *********** ** * ********* *** ********** ******. They are discriminating, assuming I'm not able to deal with my banking. I can't deal with my banking as they have never accommodated me to exercise my rights to my money in a timely and sanctioned manner.
