      Signed up for consumer proposal October withdrew it November. Now the CRA is holding my refund and they told me that’s what happens in a consumer proposal. I’m NOT in consumer proposal it’s been withdrawn and I’m owed 2297$ from CRA. Was told to contact the trustee and ***** ** told me I won’t se a refund instead of looking into it for me. Horrible customer service and attention the detail. I need this money

      A review of our records show that ***** has been in
      contact with our office about locating his tax refund.

      On March 16, 2023
      we explained that we sent information to CRA that his proposal was withdrawn,
      at his request, and we requested that CRA release any refund to him. On March
      17, 2023, we also advised that his refund does not get sent to the the Trustee
      in a consumer proposal and that we did not receive his tax refund. A
      review of our records does not show a refund sent to us by CRA for *****. In a further email, we asked ***** to forward documentation that shows
      the refund being sent to us. He has not done that – a copy from our last email
      correspondence is below:

      “Again, we not
      received any income tax information from CRA. I am trying to help and would
      like this issue to be resolved but unfortunately, we have no information and
      you are unwilling to send the information you have. Are you able to give me the
      date it says the refund was sent to our office?

      If in fact CRA has
      sent the refund to our office we are more then willing to send you an
      etransfer. At this time we have not received the funds.”

      Unfortunately,
      ***** has not sent any documentation to show that CRA erred in sending us his
      refund. We cannot find any such refund in our system.

      Further, as *****
      withdrew his proposal, his debt returned, including monies owing to the CRA.
      The CRA may have kept his refund due to the legal right of offset. If this is
      the case, that is their legal right.

      We understand ***** is frustrated at not receiving his tax refund however it is not within our ability to resolve this. It is up to the CRA.
