      I called Kitchener Utilities when our rental Gas Water Heater died recently. I wanted them to replace our water heater.
      Kitchener Utilities sent technicians from **** *** to inspect our water heater failure. The technician promptly identified code violations which forced me to switch to a more expensive electric water heater. When the technicians came to replace my old water heater, they couldn't find space in my 100 amp electrical panel to run the recommended electric water heater.
      The *********** recommended I upgrade to a 200 Amp panel. I was asked if I approved of the installation of a new 200 Amp panel, knowing that the city would have to come and dig, that I was getting a major upgrade to my house, and that it solved the breaker issue. ***** ** **** *** told me that the upgrade to 200 amps might be close to $4000. I reluctantly agreed.
      *** **** ** ***** ******* ** *************** ********** *** **** **** *** **** **** ******** ** ** ** *** ***** **** ****** ** ** **** ** **** **** *** **** ** ***** ** **** ****** **** *** did a messy job, leaving debris everywhere inside and outside. And a few days later I received a ******** bill for $4900+!
      I have called Kitchener Utilities to complain, but they are putting all the onus on *** *** - although KU subcontracted them to work on my home!

      We rent our water heater from the city for over $30 month so we have peace of mind regarding possible service needs. Unfortunately, when the water line into the water heater sprung a leak all over our basement, we were told they 'don't service that line'. The line that brings water into their product. Which their company installed. To which the service man said 'I didn't install this' and we had to wait another 8 hours without water throughout the house for a plumber to assist us with this 15 minute repair. So we're going to purchase and install our own water heater instead, ** ** **** * ******* ********* **** ** ********* ******** *** ***** **** ******* ******
