I am a 19 year old University student. I bought my first car at Lally **** in ***************, a used 2018 **** Escape. When we test drove the car there was ticking noise coming from under the hood - sales clerk, **** ******* assured us that it would be fixed before we took possession and that they had just got the car and it needed to be cleaned upAt pickup there was no noise but 2-3 months later the car a was retired to Lally **** - clicking was back and engine light that was arbitrarily coming on. With warranty Lally repaired AGAIN. Car ran fine for 2-4 months then clicking noise returned, check engine light came on. With warranty expired I took the car to another Mechanic, spent $3,000.00. By September 2024, 1 year after I purchased the vehicle it was back at Lally. Engine light on and the clicking noise louder but the car went into limp mode - it was now NO LONGER DRIVABLE.Lally Service advised engine needed replacement at a $14,000.00 cost We spoke to GM, **** ******* who suggested that we contact **** Canada because he thought this to be a catastrophic engine failure event due to the fact that there is only ~80km - he also suggested submitt a claim our private car insurance carrier. We contacted **** Can & **** Lally (dealership owner) all our attempts have gone unanswered From a purchase standpoint it is egregious to put in over $14K in repairs for a car that started having problems only months after purchase. I do not accept that **** believes it to be reasonable to replace an engine after ~10K on a car that had ~70k when bought **** Canada and Lally **** indicating their hands are tied and that the other party is responsible. I am left with an un-drivable car Please considered that when I brought car in to Lally **** the first time (when I still had warranty) why wasnt the engine checked at that time - why wasnt I told the engine needed replacement then as I am sure the damage was already there and the warranty would have covered this
