Carstar's business practices are, in my opinion, deceiving *** ******** *******. I scraped a post trying to get into a narrow parking spot in a parking garage at *****************. It was vey difficult to reach the claims department at my insurance company but the person I did reach in another department suggested I get estimates then call insurance. So I went to Carstar and asked for an estimate. I was told that they only do estimates once a claim has been opened. I was advised that only then could they provide an estimate thus guaranteeing they get the business. When I challenged them they said for a $50 deposit toward the work they would do it. I decided to pay and was told if I didn't have the work done there I would lose the deposit. After answering questions about the "collision" they took my car somewhere and returned about 15 minutes later. All they would tell me is that a new door was required but no cost would be given until I had a claim number thus guaranteeing they got the business. Subsequently I got advice from insurance not to go through insurance to avoid substantial premium increases. I got another estimate, very reasonable and no door is required! Today carstar called me to tell me they had called my insurance company and discovered that I had not opened a claim and asked why. My response can't be printed. An investigation of this business should occur.

Don-Mor CarStar was one of the approved repair companies suggested by my insurance company. CarStar had my vehicle in for a repair from a hit & run. The damage was on the driver side rear quarter panel and the same side tail light (the tail light is two pieces; one part on the rear panel and the second part on the lift gate) There was a crack in the lift gate part and it filled with water causing the brake light to stop working.
They had my vehicle from Aug 9/22 until today, Sept 28/22. Yes. Seven weeks. When I checked over the repairs, the two pieces of the tail light did not line up, and the lift gate part was still filled with condensation. I brought this to the attention of the office staff and they had “their guys” look at it. Turns out they need to “order a part and we’ll contact you when it comes in.” They need to order a part bc they didn’t replace the cracked part. Seven weeks I’ve waited, not so patiently, and now there will be more time as they will need the car in again for repairs.
I contacted my insurance company and requested they remove Don-Mar CarStar from their approved repair companies list. No one should wait seven weeks for a repair only to have to turn around and bring it back in for that same part to be repaired.
The office staff told me the warranty they give on their work will cover the repair.
What happened to fix it right the first time? I would suggest finding another repair company to do you repairs.
The technicians obviously didn’t take any pride in their work and the supervisor obviously didn’t look at the repair before signing off.
If Don-Mor CarStar was the only company left available, I would suggest watching YouTube video and doing the repair yourself.
