The provincial government has introduced new legislation that now requires tow truck drivers in ******* to be certified and trained to legally work on *******. The province has only approved 2 training providers, CAA being one of them. CAA has explicitly told us (by e-mail) they are prioritizing CAA contractors for training. Essentially, this will result in all other towing providers (aka the competition) to wait an undetermined amount of time to acquire the necessary training. It is essentially not currently possible to hire and train a new employee until CAA allows us or any other towing provider in the province, to partake in the mandated training. Any small business that requires new hires to operate their tow trucks, cannot legally do so. In my opinion, CAA is taking advantage of their position of being one of the only two provincially approved trainers to acquire a monopoly of certified operators in the province. By refusing to provide training to the rest of the towing companies in the province, they are putting multiple businesses at risk of not being able to legally provide an essential service to the public. The only alternative solution these companies have, is to operate illegally without a tow license. If you are one of the only provincially approved trainers in the province, you should be able and obligated to accommodate the businesses that legally require your services to remain in business. You should not have the right to prioritize your business at the competitions expense and doing so should not be tolerated the provincial government.

I am a member with CAA, I requested service on Jan 08 **** for the Eastern ******* ********* spoke to two managers - ********* and *****. I was denied service based on the fact that my personal vehicle was previously used as a commercial vehicle and HAD that logo on it. I was repeatedly told that regardless of the fact that the logo is no longer on the vehicle, it was previously used commercially and therefore is not covered. Is it part of the service condition that you do not cover vehicles that were previously commercial vehicles? The vehicle has refused to fulfil their commitment of providing roadside assistance which I paid for.I have had to request for another tow truck from another company and paid for that. I would like a reimbursement of this additional charge as well as future service delivery.

This complaint is on behalf of my elderly mother, *************** in London ******* October 13 & October 14- my mom called CAA because her car wouldn't start. The first guy just gave her car a boost but the battery was actually dead the second ************* said. Her car alarm was going off constantly so *** disabled the battery my mom was worried because her alarm system was dependent on the battery. *** popped the hood of her car, took out a small piece from the engine & handed it to her, and said now nobody can start your car without this. Of course she has no idea about cars & doesn't know what the piece os or how to put it back. *** said for her to call him personally when she was ready to replace the ************ woukd come install it & put it back in. My mom was ready to buy the battery & called *** but he didn't call her back so she calked the caa number yesterday. She met the guy who said he had no idea she wanted a ************ didn't have one & he left. She called back today & spoke to a nice woman about everything from the last few weeks who assured her she could get a battery installed. My mom specifically said, if they can't bring a battery, don't send them as it's notveasy for her to come down and meet them & wait etc. Again someone came with no battery claiming they knew nothing about her wanting a battery. This was upsetting & frustrating for my mom who tried to call & complain & get the bettery but she was hung up on and got nowhere with the supervisor who couldn't have listened to her phonecalls in the few minutes he spoke with her. Out of frustration she called & left a message to not take anymore money from her , I'm appalled at the way they treated a senior, and that one of their drivers removed a piece of her engine & is not putting it back so even if she did get a battery, her car won't start.
