    In December 2022, ***** from Over 55 was to fix a noisy fan (vibrations only) on my electric fireplace, which was working fine, other than the noisy fan. I had sent him pictures of the fireplace prior to him arriving. He assured me he was qualified to stop the noise.
    (He was also to lift an AC out of a wall sleeve and simply put it down on the floor. A very simple quick task).

    After he left, I turned on the fireplace and within a minute or two it shorted out with SPARKS and blew a fuse which resulted in no power to a couple of rooms. I live in an apartment. It could have resulted in a building fire, compromising many people's lives.

    "if" he had been an electrician previously, he obviously was no longer qualified. I phoned ***** and his response was a casual, humorous chuckle "Well that was a $150 experiment." He then offered to come back, break down the fireplace and take it away in his car. Break it down because it wouldn't fit in his car otherwise. Asking an additional fee of $160! At no time did I suggest that would be a resolution. He made NO comment about the seriousness, nor the sparking, power outage. There was no offer of a fee rebate.

    I would strongly suggest an assessment be done of the workers allowed under the umbrella of Over 55. The website does suggest that they have been vetted and their skills assessed PRIOR to their skills being offered.

    This fiasco could have left the Over 55 organization and the fellow open to huge liability ramifications.
    Plus this is a trust and confidence issue. Also, the pricing - It has been my experience that there is a trend of total dishonesty about what the work/or materials will cost.

    I have tried to contact the Office Manager, who basically called a liar and I was unable to reach the Chair of their Board of Directors.

    Unfortunately I paid the man $150 Cash and he never offered me a receipt. Also, the fireplace was an initial cost of $400+ and had to be disposed of.

I wanted to let you know that we have settled the claim with ******* *****, and sent her a check for $100 as per her request in this matter.  We regret  it has taken so long to complete this request, as we were unable to contact her due to some sort of blocking she has on her phone. 

    Over55 Skills at Work values the relationship we have with BBB, and hope that we can be reinstated to our previous standing.

    I am rejecting this response because: I  didn't complete my response to the BBB email dated May 1.

    The Over 55 Skills response is riddled with untruths and contradictions.

    I have never received any monies/cheque from them, despite their office manager saying  she had mailed it, then that it wasn't issued, then it was issued and sent.
    (Despite my not agreeing to anything.)

    Within their recent response, they say an agreement has been reached and at the same time within that same response, they are saying they were unable to reach me.

    "blocked" - ???
    Email?
    Phone?
    I've done neither.

    How would one know if 'blocking' occurred?

    All of the above just appears to reaffirm my concerns about the incompetence of Over 55 Skills.
    This is added to my initial worries.

    Without any satisfactory resolution to my complaint # ********,
    I wish to close my complaint and ask that the details of the complaint be posted publicly.

    Correspondence from Over 55 dated Apr 24 (which I received May 10) continues to be riddled with untruths and there is no indication that my initial concerns have been, nor will be addressed satisfactorily.
