My 80-year-old mother has a Federal Elevator in her home ** ***. In Jan./25 the elevator stopped working & her local maintenance technician identified an electronic issue that would require support from Fed Elevator tech dept. However, before Fed elevator would fix the issue, they said we’d need to replace the perfectly-functioning locks on all 3 elevator doors & install new baffles at a cost of over $6,000. I contacted Fed elevator on Feb.20/25 to understand why we couldn’t fix the elevator without being forced to install unnecessary door locks & baffles. I asked if it was a government regulatory/safety requirement but the employee told me this was a Fed Elevator policy and every 7 years we’d need to replace the parts. On Feb 20th, I asked to have my concerns escalated and the employee referred me to her manager “*****.” I left him a voicemail on Feb.20 that has never been returned. I’ve sent 2 emails (on Feb 27 & March 17) that have never been acknowledged. ******** ****** ******* **** **** ********* ****** ** ***** *** ******* ** **** ***** ****** ********. The safety issue I have right now is that my 80-year-old mother can’t move around safely in her home because Federal elevator will not fix the elevator’s electronic issue. **** ****** **** **** ******* ** **. I am requesting the BBB’s help to have the company call me back (a pretty low bar for customer service), waive the requirement to install unnecessary elevator parts, and fix the electronic issue with urgency. With thanks for your time and consideration.
