      On June 17, 2025, I visited Peel Scrap Metal with my coworker. As an HVAC company, we are regular customers and frequently bring in metal to recycle. While waiting in line at the payment window, my coworker briefly touched a small lighter that was sitting on the table. Without any warning, a man ***** *** ****** approached us and began using ******* *** offensive language, demanding to know why we were touching “his stuff.”
      I calmly responded that he could have addressed us more respectfully ******* ** ***** ** *********** **********, he ******* ** ** ****** ** ***** *** continued speaking in a hostile manner. He then walked to the cashier window, told the staff to return our materials, and ordered us to leave, claiming he was the manager.
      The cashier followed his lead ******* ****** *** ********* ** ******* *** ****. When I asked for our scrap to be returned so we could take our business elsewhere, she refused and insisted we take the cash instead. We were **** ******* **********, ************, *** clearly singled out—likely because of our South Asian background, turbans, and beards.
      No one deserves to be treated this way, especially loyal customers. Discrimination and unprofessional behavior have no place in any workplace, and we sincerely hope Peel Scrap Metal takes this matter seriously and addresses how its management interacts with customers. We will not be returning.
