In Sept 2024 I purchased a vehicle that had been inspected 9 days prior by Maxwells garage. The inspection papers (written on Maxwells letterhead) stated 2 things needed to be fixed in order to be safetied and that these 2 things would cost $900. With this information from the seller, I purchased the car and drove it from ****** to ********. When I arrived in ******** and took it to my mechanic to have those 2 things fixed, they stated there were many additional things wrong with the car before it would pass safety and they gave me an estimate of $3000. I called Maxwells to inform them of this and they sent me to a a mechanic they recommended in ********. I went to said mechanic who stated the same thing as the first (both quotes available on paper if needed). The mechanic they recommended called them and sent pictures and video (I have these as well) of all the things missed in their safety. I once again called Maxwells and told the gentleman that I have already spent $400 (from the 2 inspections here) and that since they said it would only cost $900 total, that I wanted them to pay the remainder of the costs of fixing the car. The mechanic here has fixed my car and the total bill was $3200. I bought this vehicle because a "reputable" mechanic stated in needed $900 worth of work. The pictures and video the mechanic here showed me truly scared me as he said I should have never driven it on the highway from ****** as it was dangerous. I do not feel like I should have to pay for the negligence of someone else, nor should I have been put in danger. With the repairs and the 2 safety checks, I have paid $3600. A far amount from $900. I am looking to be reinbursed $2700 ($3600-$900) . All paper work and correspondence is available at your request.

The Inspection was done on Sept. 7th for the original owner, I was contacted by the new owner on Oct.7th. I have no idea what happened to the car in the 27 days after it left my shop. An estimate was given to the original owner at the time of inspection for the Left Outer C/V Boot, Idler Arm and Lights. We did not issue a certificate as it did not pass inspection. The vehicle was sold AS IS. As per M.V.I.S. if the repairs are not performed within 10 days, a new inspection must be performed.

The new owner and I spoke a few times. My last correspondence was an email Oct. 28th to discuss it further and I was told she was unavailable because of work.

I am rejecting this response because: although I am fully aware the a month had passed between inspections, two different mechanics in ******** (One that you recommended) stated there were major items that were missed in Maxwells inspection. One must only look at the very limited mileage from those dates to see that that type of damage is from far before. I again, am aware that Maxwells did not certify the vehicle but they overlooked major things and blatentely undersold the value of what needed repairs putting myself in danger. I am not certain if the previous owner and Maxwells are aquaintances but this seems like fraudulent behavior where they stated only $900 of work was needed. Again, pictures of the condition of the car from their recommended mechanic are available.

    Sincerely,
