I hired AmeriSpec to do pre and post retrofit evaluations for the Canada Greener Homes program. After the pre retrofit evaluation in Sep 2022, AmeriSpec filed the report against the wrong application number. This is still not resolved 10 months later. AmeriSpec also took 5 months (Feb 2022) to provide me with the PDF report so I could submit it to the government manually. Same story after performing the post-retrofit evaluation in May 2023. Happy to be responsive to book and up until I've paid and then they disappear. It has now been a month and a half with no report. It took 6 WEEKS (Jul 2023) and several reminders to get any response after asking for an update on when that report would be available. I got a snarky response saying they could either answer emails or write reports. I still do not have my final report in PDF form and do not have either report filed in the correct Greener Homes application number.

We were provided the name Amerispec to complete our in home energy audit when we were purchasing our new windows and doors under the Canada Greener Homes Grant in November 2021. The auditor arrived in February 2022 and we paid our $600 in full and received the report. The post evaluation occurred in November 2022, and although we paid another $200 in full, we have not received the report, nor has there been any update to our online application at the rebate site. I was assured in November that this would happen. When I called in December for an update, I was informed that a specific individual had been ill and there was some backlog. It is now March 2023 and I still have not received my report or had any update to my application on the online site by Amerispec. Although the auditors arrived as scheduled, and payment was easy to make, the follow up service, and the entire reason for getting an audit in the first place- the rebates- has been less than ideal. No updates or return emails or calls have been forthcoming, so I am writing here with the hope that some feedback will be provided by the company, and that they will fulfill their end of the relationship by sending me my post evaluation so I can upload it myself, or complete my online rebate application so I can be placed in the queue for refund of part of the assessment and the windows.

We have been having the same issue with AmeriSpec of Canada (Ottawa) as the other 2 complainants here. We had an inspection conducted on August 25th, 2022. After we had some issues figuring out how to process our payment but solved it on September 22nd, 2022 with an e-transfer to AmeriSpec of Canada (Ottawa) with acceptance code ************************* through ****** ****. The last e-mail that they provided us on September 30th, 2022 stated that it usually takes about 1 month to have the report sent to the government and e-mailed to us but neither has happened yet and it has now been 5 months. In the first 14 weeks, we have called and sent e-mails without any response. At this point, it would seem that they have our money and we have nothing.

I went on the Canada's Greener Homes Grant website and chose Amerispec Ottawa to complete my pre and post home inspection so I could apply for the grant. The company charged me $565.00 (including tax) for the initial inspection. That inspection took place on July 18th, 2022 at 12:00. In an email they sent me I quote, "In order to reduce the generation of paper, you will receive your report in PDF format via an email link, normally within 10-14 days of the on-site evaluation." I am still waiting for both the acknowledgement of my payment, which they wanted immediately, and my report. I have called the company 4 times - the first two times the person on the phone said the reports were taking longer than normal due to the Federal Government's inability to process their reports and then on the second two calls I was just told my inspector was "a couple of months behind". Well, it has now been six months and still nothing. I have also written the company, via email, requesting an update, the receipt of my payment and my report. Nothing, no response to my email. I have completed all the work I intended to do in October but am unable to proceed to the final step until I get my receipt of payment and my initial report.

In order to apply for the Greener Homes grant, upgrading all my home windows, I was required to have a home inspection completed before the new windows were installed. I obtain the name of a home inspection firm from Greener Homes website, ********* ******. They completed the initial inspection as agreed, initial inspection was dated October 2021. The windows were then upgraded in June 2022 with the final inspection being completed on July 08, 2022. At the time of inspection I was informed by the inspector that the final report would be ready within a month. I have contacted Amerispec, ************, numerous times since August 2022 and have been given a number of reason that the report has not been completed. Finally on December 05, 2022 I was informed that the reported would be completed no later than December 09, 2022, the report was never delivered. I called on December 12, 2022 and was advised that the inspector would sent an e-mail to outline where the report stood, never received the e-mail. Again I called on December 15, 2022 and was able to talk to the person who had advised the report would be finished by December 09, 2022, the person did not offer any explanation for the unfinished report. In short I have been getting the run around for months. Based on the information from Greener Homes I am entitled to a grant of $5,000 plus cost of $600, Amerispec has been paid for both reports total cost $650.00 plus tax. The report must be finished and filed with Greener Homes by Amerispec so that I can receive the grant. My file number with Amerispec is **********.

My problem is that on April 28, 2022 Amerispec Ottawa did an assessment of my home as part of the Greener Homes Grant Program, which I paid for with an e-transfer of $565.00 on April 29, 2022. As of July 6, 2022 they have not yet sent a report that explains the findings of their assessment, nor have they sent me a receipt of my payment. The invoice number was ************. The resolution I want is a full refund because their poor service has left a bad taste in my mouth for the grant program and I no longer have faith that their report will be professional based on their performance to date. Here is a record of our interactions: April 28, 2022: two Amerispec employees completed a site assessment. April 29, 2022: I e-transferred the full fees for the assessment ($565). early May: I called to find out why nobody had acknowledged my payment, nor sent me a receipt. I was advised that I would receive a receipt when I receive the assessment report. I was also advised that someone would call me with the highlights of the assessment, however, this did not happen. June 1, 2022: I emailed the company asking when I could expect a report and received a generic response that the reports are delayed due to high volume. June 15, 2022: I emailed the company asking for my money back and received a response that advised me that I could go ahead with my upgrades before receiving the report and that Amerispec has a report backlog due to the storm, COVID, training and new procedures introduced by the Greener Homes Program. The assessor explained that she was working long hours and doing her best to provide a report. My request for a refund was not acknowledged. June 16, 2022: I emailed my reasons for wanting a report prior to going ahead with the work and received no reply. July 5, 2022: I requested the report or a refund and received no reply. July 6, 2022: I am making a complaint with the BBB.

    Dear ******

I am writing in response to your email saying that you have not yet heard from Amerispec regarding my complaint.

On July 10, 2022, I received the long-awaited assessment report from Amerispec. I had asked for a refund, but I will accept the report, albeit reluctantly, as I am no longer interested in the Greener Grant program because of my bad experience with Amerispec. I truly believe they only sent me the report because of my complaint to your office.

So thank you for your assistance in this matter.

    Regards,
