We paid $5250 for 150 eastern white cedar trees to be delivered and planted. Original invoice of July 16, 2021 ********. Proper size and number of trees were not planted so they finally replanted on Sept 1,2021 and Oct 6,2021. Timeline is relevant for warranty on the trees. As of April 2022, 29 trees died and by Aug 2022 a total of 68 trees died. Upon consulting 2 arborists and examining the dead trees the main problem is the root ball size. Standards exist for nursery grown stock. These trees do not have a sufficient root ball size regardless of aftercare watering, etc. A tree with too small of a root ball won’t survive. They have not provided us with their root ball standard. Mathematically, it’s impossible to fit the number of trees we ordered into our given space if the given root balls are the correct size. Also, we were told to order 35 more trees than needed for our given space. We needed to cover 165 feet and were told we needed 150 trees when we only needed 115 trees (we found this out after they were planted). ******** e-mail trail includes a detailed explanation and links to their own website stating the number of trees per 10 feet and how far apart the trees should be planted. It will be impossible to replace the trees that died and create a proper hedge with trees all the same height at this point. The trees that died are interspersed in all areas of the yard and given that the root balls need to be larger than what we got, it’s physically impossible to fit the same size trees (11-12 ft) in the spaces. In order to fill in any gaps we would need to buy much smaller trees in height and width, effectively losing the hedge effect that we paid for. We contacted this company in the spring and they said that they couldn’t replace larger trees until August. In that time, we discovered the facts about the root ball size, and more trees died. *** ******** ****** ******* They have not been forthcoming with any solutions. ****** *********** *********
