ServiceMaster Restore is the worst restoration company I have ever had the misfortune of having to work with. We came by ServiceMaster after making an insurance claim as they were a "preferred contractor" of our insurance company, CAA. There is nothing preferential about them. They were nothing but a pain to deal with throughout the entire insurance claim process. I have zero idea why CAA would have any relationship with them, there are plenty of other good restoration companies in Ottawa. They were so bad to deal with that we will no longer have a relationship with any insurance company that contracts out to ServiceMaster Restore.

RE : **************************** *********************************************************** 7V7 We at ServiceMaster are committed to providing quality restoration services with integrity and respect. We regret that there appears to have been a misunderstanding regarding the scope of work authorized under your mother's insurance policy with CAA. To clarify, our team was contacted to address an urgent situation after your mother was targeted by an unscrupulous contractor who damaged your mother's property. Our primary objective was to secure the property from further damage, intrusion and potential hazards by sealing a large opening in the foundation, which was performed immediately to ensure her safety and security. This emergency service was conducted under the directive and approval of both the insurance adjuster and the insureds engineer, focusing strictly on making the premises safe and secure. We understand and appreciate the concerns raised by the insureds son regarding the restoration of the steps and railings at the home. We endeavored to price the restoration of these elements to their original state, which was agreed upon by your mothers insurance adjuster. If new steps and new glass railings were desired, these would be considered improvements/betterments, and thus outside the scope of what the insurance policy would typically cover. It is important to address the fact that the scope of work outlined in our restoration estimate is defined strictly by the terms of the insurance policy, which covers restoration to pre-damage conditions, not improvements or upgrades. Any additional enhancements are outside our contractual obligations and fall under the discretion of the insurance holder's policy with CAA.As a CPA, you are undoubtedly aware of the importance of adhering to professional standards and ethical practices. It is disappointing that your interactions with our staff have not reflected these standards. Our employees have faced aggressive behavior and undue criticism while performing their duties, which is neither professional nor acceptable. We take this opportunity to request the immediate removal of your public complaint, which we believe to be unfounded and potentially damaging to our reputation. If this review is not reconsidered, we are prepared to take legal action to protect our integrity and our people. We do remain open to discussing this matter directly, to clarify any misunderstandings and to explore a resolution. However, our commitment to our ethical standards and the protection of our reputation stands firm.Owner, *******************

If I could give 0 stars I would. Absolutely horrendous service provided by ServiceMaster. They were contracted by our insurance company to restore our basement after flooding last Spring. The service here went from bad-to-worse... They constantly pushed off the finish time for a multitude of reasons, never communicated effectively with us, lied about what counted as one job and what counted as two, and then on the final week of work said it would be finished and then ran out of materials and wanted to ************** my things in when the following was not completed:- Giant hole at the bottom of my stairs - Did not install any of the baseboards (boards pictured are original and were not removed as part of the demo process)- Did not install any window trim (trim pictured is original)- Did not re-install a built in cabinet - Left electrical hanging out of the walls We were more than patient and understanding with them and they continuously screwed us over. The contractor doing the work in the "final" week would show up after 3 or 4pm and stay for 2 hours then go home, all the while promising us that the work would finally be done. When I email the organizer Guy to air my displeasure, he ignored my email and instead emailed only my husband. When I called to follow up, he said there was nothing he could do. "Fine" was all he could say to my grievances.ServiceMaster held us, our basement, and our laneway hostage for week. Only ever sending someone in when THEY needed something. They're moving my things in as I write this and there are multiple unfinished pieces of work to be done still. The customer service and work here has been horrible and I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.
