We hired ***** in September 2024. He was to come in and sand floors, refinish them and add quarter round/shoe mold and new vents. The first day he was to start he wrote and told us his back was sore and he would be there the next day. He showed up the following day and and started sanding. The next day he was to continue but wrote to tell us he needed to run around to get supplies, and no one in ****** had them so he would drive to ********. He returned a few days later and finished the 1st coat. He then gave us muliple excuses as to why he hadn't come back. finally on Sept 25 he came back to finish the 2nd coat. This is also when we told him which vents we wanted, he emailed us an updated invoice. We were installing our kitchen and we arranged for him to come back Oct 25 for the final coat/sanding, vents and Shoe mould Again, he made excuses as to why he didn't show. Finally he came on Nov 2. and finished the floor, but said he forgot that he was doing the shoe mold and that the router bit didn't come in. So he would need to come back. We arranged a date and he did not show. after texting he said he'd be there the next day. Again, didn't show. And a third time. We requested that if he was not going to finish the job of vents, shoe mould and labour , we would like a refund of the portion he did not provide. $926. He has now not returned any messages etc. The texts between us show the multiple excuses he made, or lack of response to even tell us he wouldn't show up that day. We had to rearrange work schedules and find places for our cats for when he was coming and then he wouldn't show up. It was an inconvenience.

***** Jenkins contacted us on Sunday, Dec 1. He gave us an excuse that he was away and trying to sort things out. He mentioned a dying grandparent in the summer and split from his wife. Both of which happened before we hired him. We are sympathetic to what happened and we have been nothing but kind, accepting his reasons of not finishing the job etc. His text proceeded to say he had the vents and if we wanted he would finish the job this week (Dec 2-6) or he could drop off the vents.  I wrote back saying we were sorry and that we would like him finish the job we paid for, the vents and the shoe molding. And that we could not install the vents ourselves as we do not have the template nd correct tools to install them. In my text back, I ask that he let us know which day he would like to come so we could arrange our work schedules and move furniture out of the way. We did not get a response. On Thursday, Dec 5 at 6:43pm I wrote and asked when he would like to schedule us so he could finish the job. We requested he reply by today, friday, Dec 6 with a response. Otherwise we requested our money back.

At this time, we have run out of time for him to finish our job as we have company vistiing from out of town up to the new year. We would just like our money back for the vents and shoemolding we paid him for and to install.

We are at this time, contemplating taking him to small claims court.

In September 21,2021 we received a quote from Jenkins hardwood floor. We agreed to the quote with the work beginning in April 2022. The work was to take two weeks with us moving to my moms for the time.

The quote was for $25,266.12 and included material, sanding, staining and installation for hardwood floors throughout the house as well as the stairs. The work was completed in April 2022 terms of flooring downtaits and upstairs but the not the stairs. At the time, ***** (owner of company) was off to a conference in Philadelphia and told us he would finished the stairs in May 2022. For the past 1 year plus 4 months, ***** has had a number of excuses (staff shortages, daughter Covid, material shortages, etc) on why he hasn’t come when he would and continues to make promises (for example, just in may 2023, he told us he would come in June 19 2023 which he didn’t come). Apparently the work was in cue in April 2023, but no update about the material since then.

At this point it is clear he does not intent to complete the work as per contract. I’ve asked for money back which he acknowledges he owes us biy has not paid us back,

On July 4 2023, I advised him that we have we’ve paid $22045.62 but that he has not supplied, installed or finish our stairs. So according to your invoice, he owes us: 3679.50. His response a month ago on July 10, : Good morning. I am not taking the money from you. You’ve said you no longer want me to do the work and would like your money back. I just need to go over the invoice and payments to confirm the refund. Your numbers appear accurate but I just want to double check. If you don’t want me doing it I can recommend a couple of installers who might be able to get in there before me..

At this point, I am submitting a complaint as is is clear that he is not completing the work or even giving us our money back. I would really like the work completed ideally cause this has been stressful and i no energy to find another contractor.
