On October 8, 2024, a technician from Howard Boyle Heating and Air Conditioning came to my house for a service call to clean and check my furnace. I asked him to also check the in-furnace humidifier. He said that usually they charge for this but said he would do it for free. After finishing his work he said that there was a broken wire but that he fixed it.I tried the humidifier by activating the switch on the humidistat. No water came out onto the pad. I tried several times with no success.I called Howard Boyle and spoke to the General Manager on October 15. I spoke to *****, the *** He said to wait until the temperature dropped. He also said that he would charge me for a second service call. My reasoning was that the tech (***) i assumed would have tried this out. I would have paid for the humidifier check as it would not have cost me a second service call. I thus felt that charging for a second service call was unfair. I, after followed his advice to wait for the temperature to drop. There was no effect on the humidifier turning on. I tried this over numerous days and nights. I left him a voicemail followed up by an email a few days later. He has not answered either. My Carrier furnace has a 10 year warranty Plus so does the humidifier. The furnace was purchased on December 31, 2014. Even if this 10 year warranty ends at the end of November, I did contact him in mid-October, as mentioned above. Thus the warranty would have still been valid. Today, Dec 09, 2024, I had another *************** come and diagnose the issue. Sure enough, it was the humidistat that controlled the furnace humidifier. I had to pay the cost of the service call plus the cost of the new humidistat. I feel it is unfair that i needed to call another company to rectify this and pay for their service call. I would want the amount of the service call by the second company (Reliable Home Environment) paid back to me by Howard Boyle Heating.

This is the bill from ** ******** who owns Howard Boyle. I forgot to send this.

The humidistat would have been covered by the 10 yar warranty. So Howard Boyle should reimburse me for either the cost of theservice call by Reliable Home Environment who diagnosed the problem , OR the cost of the humidistat which was still under warranty from Howard Boyle. Please see original invoice from 2014 that clealy says 10 year warranty on the humidifier.

    Thank you

Howard Boyle did respond. The issue I was told why it took so long was that they are now operating under **** ********. Hence they did not get my the emails.

Finaly the General Manager called me. and said that he had my phone number on his phone., He knoew that his company had now a ***** **** against their name.

He offerd to only reimburse the cost of the original service call. I did not feel that this was fair as  during their time of no response, I hired another heating company to fix the Rurnace humidifier. They sold me a new  humidistat attached to the furnace foir an exhorbitant porice. When I told the Gen ******* of Howard Boyle the cost, he said that it was a greatly inflated price. I said to him, how was I supposedto know that and gave him the example that when we all bring our cars in for service and a part is needed, we don't "shop around".

He finally agreed to a compromise of what I came up with. One half of the bill from the second furnace cxompany in total but not Howard Boyle's origional  service call  I did not this this was entirely fair but decided that was better than  the cost of  Howard ************** call., or nothing.

I have been dealing with Howard Boyle for over 30 years and had purchased 2 furnaces from them plus service inspections every 2 years. The humidifier and furnace had a 10 year labor and parts warranty which I could not take advantage ***** would have paid for the new humidistat plus labor.

Needless to say, I will not hire them again  or purchase a new furnace from them. Talk about losing a customer. "***** **** and pound foolish"

    Thank you

    **** ******
